Moral Dilemma

By |2011-08-02T16:53:42-04:00August 2nd, 2011|My Life|4 Comments

CK4 asked me to post this although I made him quite aware my readers don’t participate. He is also is much more obsessed with this issue as I made sure to tell him it’s pretty mundane. Here’s what happened. He purchased a new car a few weeks ago and his old car had $275 dollars worth of damage (wear and tear). In negotiating for the new car, the dealership agreed to pick up this charge. They took this charge off of the down payment originally negotiated. Now, a few days ago he rec’d a check in the mail from the dealership for $275. Essentially he is receiving this money twice from the dealership. I want to add that this amount of money will not change his living situation and he has no major debts to pay off. Would you cash the second check and take advantage of the dealerships stupidity or be fair and return the check?

Would you cash the Check?

Out of Touch

By |2011-08-02T08:28:58-04:00August 2nd, 2011|My Brain|5 Comments

People who don’t get email to their phone are out of touch. I’m actually really surprised at the frequency some people check their email. Once or twice a day doesn’t cut it. Unless you are a student or have nothing going on in your life, you don’t have any excuse to not have your email at your fingertips at all time. Am I upset at you if you don’t get your email to your phone? Obviously not but I’m making it quite clear that if your phone doesn’t have e-mail capabilities, you need a new phone. If your phone looks like this,

you need a new phone. Especially if you are working for a company that sends email (which one doesn’t?). There is just no excuse not to be in touch. Email is different than texting because someone doesn’t have to have your number to contact you. You make your email more widely known than your telephone number. If you are making a point to avoid making this technological leap, I’m advocating the jump. Don’t be left behind.

From my experiences, my blackberry was better at receiving emails. Meaning it seemed to receive the emails with no delay. The web browsing was horrific though. With my Droid X, there is definitely a delay. Not only that but I had to set it up so my work mail gets forwarded to my gmail and that is what makes it take a while. I also want to note that even though I’m fully available with calls, texts, and emails, that doesn’t mean that I have to respond to everything as soon as it hits my phone. I’m a complete asshole when it comes to responding and I know it. That’s why even though I don’t like the constant communication, its better to be informed and turn a blind eye than to just be blind. This is not gospel, just my two cents.

Life Update

By |2011-08-01T22:59:41-04:00August 1st, 2011|My Life|0 Comments

You’ll see I added some categories at the top which should hopefully make navigation easier. I spent the last half hour trying to figure out how to get the word “Therapy” removed from the header. I successfully managed to either remove it and the title or have it like it is now. I’ve been reading some posts on how to create a better website and they say the title should have keywords in it. I’ve changed my title at least 15 times now that I might stick with this one. Even though admitting to being a functioning alcoholic isn’t the grandest of titles, I’m not sure what else this blog really stands for. I can’t pick one topic and stick to it because it wouldn’t just bore you, it would bore me. I need to be able to bounce from movies to music to sports to keep it lively. I think this hurts me a bit because Google looks for keywords that are specific and I’m all over the place. I can’t figure out why my social media boxes aren’t coming up right and I messed around with the SEO options to the point that google will probably never find my web address again. I have about 160 unique visitors today mostly brought in by “amy winehouse before and after” searchs. Brandi Passante was a close second.

I feel like I haven’t written about my life much but people never seem to interested so that’s why I lean towards entertaining posts instead of my life. If I was more exciting, maybe that would change. I ran a 17:20 3 mile on the track today which was decent. I ran a 5:10 mile just 2 weeks ago in 95 degree weather so I’m pretty sure I can break 5 later in the week if I try. I’m almost done the 2nd Game of Thrones book and will write a review when I finish. I signed up for HBOGo and realized I don’t have to purchase the Soprano’s DVD’s anymore. I still want to watch MadMen but haven’t gotten around to it. I’m caught up on Weeds, Curb, Entourage, and True Blood. Curb has been the best show with the other falling into a mature, been there done that sort of feeling. Actually with True Blood it’s more like “never done that, don’t really care about that.” I’ve been feeling good and hope to get my adsense account back so I can give it another go at making some cash. Note to Mark, might not want to click my link 30 times as I have a feeling that may have got me banned. No hard feelings though for the most active reader / participant.

JKa$h

By |2016-11-01T23:36:47-04:00August 1st, 2011|My Life|1 Comment

I think he had the $ in his name before Ke$ha so there are probably few copyright issues pending. I personally liked the period of time when he was being referred to as JSmash but he’s cleaned up his act since then. I feel like any time JKa$h is involved with something a story appears. Often times the story isn’t linked towards unbelievable athletic performance (don’t worry I’ll get there) but usually some random event that wouldn’t happen to anyone else but him.

The pedometer incident in right field is the obvious classic in the 1 softball game he played all year. Without a ball hit to him all game the top of the 7th arrives and there are two outs. The batter hits a moon ball to right of course and Jon is on his horse after it until a ditch in the ground causes him to trip and he sprawls out in slow motion time. We ended up winning the game but for some bizarre reason Jon is carrying a pedometer that I can’t remember if he found or not but was searching right field afterwards.

Jon isn’t the faster of the two brothers but I certainly would never question JKash’s hands. He didn’t become Marcedes Lewis for no reason. I’m not sure he dropped a pass all football season. He even caught one between his legs or maybe it was with his legs which showed true concentration. I have to mention he was the only person to get injured during touch football season somehow landing on his shoulder. Amazingly he missed a few games but returned for the Championship game like he didn’t miss a beat.

JKash isn’t known for his offensive prowess in Bball but he will rough up the other team when he’s on the court. A natural bruiser who isn’t afraid to commit a foul. It wouldn’t matter if he showed up in the 4th quarter, Jkash is never finishing a game with less than 4 fouls acquired. Let’s not question the Stocktonesque passing that can be seen here. Not a shoot first player but his knowledge about the game and basketball IQ are up there.

The last paragraph is always the most fun for me because I get to pick out non-sport attributes that I can comment on. I would pit JKa$h against practically anyone in knowing what jersey number professional athletes are. I think he only does Basketball but I’m sure he’ll chime in. His love for Shawn Kemp should be noted (I don’t think he likes Jamaal as much as me once saying “I hope he gets gonorrhea”). He let me know how to utilize “the twirl” with girls on the dancefloor. His love of Birdman and always having his “swag on lean” is obvious. I know about his handy man skills when we built a beer pong table together that’s been used a maximum of 5 times. His partying days may be limited with his girlfriend making sure he doesn’t get out of hand but I know Jka$h used to go out every Thursday night with me in his glory days. Besides myself, he’s the number 1 closest person in Mind Erasers consumed. Let’s also thank the Lamps for his short stint in male modeling. He also comments a lot on my blog which should be apparent that JKa$h speaks his mind more often than not leading to various degrees of situations. JKa$h has been a really good friend of mine for a long time and he’s earned my unwavering trust. I probably left out some crucial information that he’ll be sure to tell me about so maybe you’ll catch a part two. In his own words “everyone loves to read about JKa$h”.

Celeb Weight Transformations

By |2016-11-01T23:36:38-04:00August 1st, 2011|Celeb|0 Comments

In this previous post I pointed out how Turtle’s character underwent a major weight loss. Here are a few other high profile actors who felt the pressure from Hollywood to look better. I think this is obviously a good thing health wise but it sort of changes their typecast for some reason.

Seth Rogan

Seth Rogan was never really fat fat but he was never in shape. Even as Ken Miller in Freaks and Geeks he wasn’t slim. Landing the lead role in Knocked Up put him on the map and then was in quality movies like Superbad and Pineapple Express and some other average leads like Observe and Report and Zach and Miri. In Funny People though is when I think he made his weight loss because they constantly joked about it.

Leo (Jonah): “You shouldn’t have lost all that weight man. There’s nothing funny about a physically fit man.
Ira (Seth): “I know, it’s lame right?”
Leo: “Yeah, no one wants to watch Lance Armstrong do comedy.”

Leo: “Go lose some more weight Ira, you look fuckin’ weird skinny!”

Jonah Hill

Jonah Hill was fat in 2006. I thought he was huge in Accepted and even slimmed down a bit in Superbad and was still enormous. I think he started losing weight right around when Seth Rogen did in Funny People. He was noticeably slimmer in Get Him to the Greek. For some reason I don’t mind him skinny. I actually prefer his current weight to when he was in Accepted. People say your funnier when your fat but I just think he’s a funny guy.

Ethan Suplee

Ethan Suplee has been around for a while. His early role in Boy Meets World had him as a big, dumb, fat dude. Then in MallRats he was the weird, fat guy using Jedi powers. I first noticed it in Mr. Woodcock that he’d lost a ton of weight. Why I was watching Mr.Woodcock I’m not sure. I figured he’d never land another role because his look was “the fat guy.” I don’t really know if his career has slowed down but I imagine when your role is for being fat, you aren’t offered the same roles. I wonder if it was natural (doubt it) or surgery?

Things to Notice

By |2011-08-01T16:17:04-04:00August 1st, 2011|My Brain|0 Comments

I’m not sure how often people check into this site to notice a few changes. You’ll see more links within the text and I’m going to start creating more internal linking to past posts. Obviously this is in an effort to increase traffic as I’m constantly learning more about maintaining a website and trying to create the best page possible. My traffic has risen dramatically as of late and I’ve been getting hits from all sorts of different keywords. My main problem is that I don’t really have much of a focus. I just think of things, see things, make up things and than create posts. Which is fine but I really need some better organization and a cleaner way of browsing the site. As is though I’ve been pretty happy with the new lay out and will continue to improve the site with anything I can think of. I always appreciate the comments both good and bad. I especially like bad comments. When the anonymous guy posted a comment that I didn’t know shit about football, that’s fantastic. I’m glad he felt strongly enough to write something compared to the people who read and move on.

My genuine dislike for Turtle

By |2013-03-15T03:40:57-04:00August 1st, 2011|Tv|3 Comments

Notice I don’t say “my genuine dislike for Jerry Ferrara“. He recently lost 55 pounds and it’s quite apparent in the picture below. He claims it’s done just by his diet but he looks a little more ripped than just eating healthier. I’m sure Jerry is a stand-up guy who is just enjoying the fame from Entourage. What they’ve done to Turtle’s character is atrocious. To think that he’s running the Avion business with all those hot girls around just seems so out of place. The fact that he was with Jamie Lynn Sigler and now this Alex girl (and the hot college girl from last year) is far-fetched. I don’t know what it is but the producers tried to evolve Turtle’s character and they should just have kept him as an errand boy for Vince. His rap storyline with Saigon seemed the most realistic for him. Now he’s skinny Turtle instead of fat Turtle and his story lines are just awkward. Just my thoughts.

The National Debt

By |2011-08-01T16:19:35-04:00August 1st, 2011|My Brain|1 Comment

Feeling the need to respond to a comment made on my post on why the United States is in Trouble, I wrote this. The National Debt is 14.3 Trillion. Here is a good chart of how the Gov’t spends your money.

How the Gov't spends our money

The Dept of Agriculture has a SNAP program that takes care of food stamps and such. The United States spent $33 billion on SNAP in fiscal year 2007 and spending has more than doubled to nearly $69 billion in fiscal year 2011. There you go Jill, there’s my research. 4th largest area our tax dollars are being spent. Is it marginal? Probably.

When you owe 14 Trillion dollars obviously a huge part of our budget is being spent on the interest. The Defense Department is also a huge part of the budget and also probably insane. When I read that Syria’s Gov’t killed 80 of their own people and that the US says they will “work with others around the world to isolate the Assad Gov’t and stand with the Syrian people” I really have to ask why? I don’t even know if this is defense or not but why does the US care so much about Syria? Finally, health and human services is a huge money gobbler. All people deserve healthcare? Yes this is humane but costly. I don’t know enough about Social Security to write anything.

One final thing that really annoys me is when President Obama says this about the debt ceiling “This process has been messy and it’s taken far too long.” I’m not sure if he’s trying to let people know that he doesn’t want Congress thinking about MAJOR economical issues for too long. Seriously, complicated things should take a long time to figure out and writing a blank check isn’t as good an idea as President Obama thinks.

I don’t know jack shit about politics or how the Gov’t works. I’m just a dumb citizen writing about what I read. I have it better off than 95% of the worlds population and have no right to complain about anything. My opinions on political matters are strictly for entertainment purposes and should never be taken seriously. If I were King (I’ve been reading Game of Thrones), I’d probably rule like they do by killing people for the fun of it. I do know that 14 Trillion dollars is a lot of money though and that the US is heading for busto.

Lederach Golf Course Review

By |2011-07-31T23:32:59-04:00July 31st, 2011|Golf Course Reviews|0 Comments

On Sunday afternoon, Bake, the Shee, CK4 and I played golf at the Lederach Golf Course. Their twilight was at 3:30 so we payed 45 dollars each to ride. The course seemed empty but we were waiting pretty much every hole. That being said the round wasn’t particularly slow and we finished in 4 hours or so. We played from the green tee boxes which were in between white and blue much to the chagrin of CK4. There are a few things about this golf course which make it unique. The first thing you notice is that the fairways are huge. This is not a course you are going to lose a ton of golf balls on. I think I lost 2 the whole day and I was spraying balls all over the place. This aspect is certainly favorable to average golfers. The next thing to note is that these greens are normal greens. The undulation is pretty significant and the greens are huge. This led to a ton of 3 putts for me.

From the golf end of things, this course really has it together. The price is right, the course is in good condition, it’s challenging and I thought pretty fair. A couple of not so good things are 3 dollar Gatorade. 2 water fountains on the course which provide luke warm water and not a single cooler with water. This was absolutely the worst part about the course and to go to the trouble to have such a nice course and slack on the water is not looking out for the players. Ck4 said that there weren’t any paper towels in the bathroom either. The bar seemed nice and clean though and specials seemed good. I’d give the course a sold 8.5 out 10. I’m not complaining about the price or really anything at all about the course, just some minor flubs in my mind. Just to add, I finished with a 98 and that included a 10 on a hole where my pitching wedge snapped in half and a 9 on a hole where my 3rd shot on a par 5 would have been green side but instead was 3 feet out of bounds and I re-hit like I was supposed to.

Celeb Dopplegangers

This should be a pretty fun post. Knowing that no two people are identical, these people come close. The Pence – Barry Pepper is original by CK4, Katy and Zoey is pretty known and the other two are too funny not to share.
