High school Memories @ 31

By |2015-09-29T15:04:51-04:00September 29th, 2015|My Life|0 Comments

When you’re 21, 16 doesn’t feel that far away.  When you’re 31, 16 feels like a lifetime ago.  A few memories stick out to me throughout my high school experience that leave me shaking my head.

Being a hotel manager – When I was in 9th grade I had a guidance counselor named Ms. Young who was actually old.  When she asked me what I liked for some inexplicable reason I told her that I thought managing a hotel was a cool idea.  Oddly specific but she ran with it.  Every subsequent time I saw her she’d ask me if I wanted to learn how to manage a hotel.  I can’t even explain where the idea came from let alone my fascination with it.  I have a feeling it may have been her dream and she projected it on me.

tcperfectattendancePerfect attendance –  Sam wrote about sick days and I kind of can’t believe I never missed a day of school.  I didn’t get sick enough to the point of ever missing it.  If I was applying to college nowadays I’d talk that up to ridiculous proportions.  You looking for someone who will always be there?  Shit, I didn’t miss a day of school for 13 years.  That’s dedication…Or being an idiot.

sleeping-studentLearners and non-learners – My 12th grade English class had one of the most bizarre teacher student interactions that I can remember.  The teacher decided that there were some students in the class who didn’t want to learn.  She told us to separate the class between non-learners and learners.  3 of us (Phil, Seidmon, and myself) sat in the very back of the class and didn’t do shit for every single class.  We would play TI-83 games or go to sleep while the class learned about stupid shit.  I ended up getting an A in the class.  I’m actually pretty proud of myself for not being a conformist idiot and still working the system effectively.  Granted I had already been accepted to college and the class meant nothing to me.

Back Burning the Blog

By |2015-09-28T19:32:59-04:00September 28th, 2015|My Brain|0 Comments

My apologies for not updating the blog since the 24th but I was away for the weekend.  I’ll have a full write up on my trip that I’ll post on our work blog tomorrow if you have any interest.

When I have to catch up on a few days of material I’ll just ramble into some bullets.

      • Did you ever realize that DraftKings stands for “Draft-Kings”.  Like you need to draft kings / awesome player to win money
      • If you are a non-smoker, never get a smoking room in a hotel.  It’s unbearable.
      • I like this back slap:

    • I’m glad the pope is gone. This pope baby is pretty funny though.
    • This video had so much potential until the end:

  • I got really distracted on Reddit while I was making this post because I have nothing to write about.  I’ll try again tomorrow.

The Eagles Players…

By |2015-09-24T09:49:20-04:00September 24th, 2015|Sports|2 Comments

STINK!

People are wondering why they are losing with lousy excuses that the NFL figured out Chip’s offensive scheme and the Cowboys knew the plays as they were being called.  Guess what?  It’s not that complicated.  The Eagles offensive players just flat out aren’t that good.  Let’s get started.

962364_1280x720Sam Bradford –  His career record is 18-32-1.  His QB rating for a season has never been higher than 52.  Now what happened to me was when I heard they got Sam Bradford initially I cringed.  When he killed in the pre-season, I had huge hope.  Now I’m back with him being a lousy QB that his record indicates.

RB’s – DeMarco has a hurt hammy which is just another blow.  He hasn’t looked great with 11 yards on 21 carries which is a far cry from an 1,800 yard season.  Sproles looks spry and Matthews is a ghost.  However, I think the bigger problem is…

OL – Peters, Johnson, and the undersized Kelce are the foundation. Allen Babre and Andrwho Gardner stink. Losing Mathis and Herremans is being felt right now.

rileyWR – Easily the worst part of the Eagles offense. Matthews is a 2 not a 1. Agholor has played 2 total games in his career. Riley Cooper is not an NFL player. These players drop passes and don’t get open.

Defense – After a rocky 1st half against the Falcons, they came to play in the 2nd half keeping the game tight. In the 2nd game, they held Dallas to 6 points before giving up the Terrence Williams TD after being on the field the whole game and Byron Maxwell being “exhausted”.  Kiko is out again (shocker) and Maxwell is one of the worst coverage men in the game currently. Good luck.

McKayla Needs to be Questioned

By |2016-10-28T15:27:48-04:00September 24th, 2015|Celeb|0 Comments

If this isn’t the definition of “sex sells” than I must be from a different planet.  Plus where the hell did those boobs come from?

Here’s the kick, she isn’t selling anything! She’s just a hot 19 year old who has this sick body and tortures the internet with tempting pictures. What is her goal here?

  • To stay relevant because she has no talent after gymnastics.
  • Setting herself up for her sex tape.
  • Being a naive 19 year old who doesn’t think men are cranking it to her.

Is she the mastermind behind this or is someone telling her what to do?  I just can’t imagine a 19 year old, silver medal vaulter, saying, “hmmm, I’m going to tease the internet with a picture where I’m bent over showing as much cleavage as possible. (insert cute, diabolical laugh)”  I just can’t put the pieces together.  She’s also always tweeting about church and her righteous morals, so, yeah…

Seriously, though, what a babe.

Papal Visit After Watching Schindler’s List

By |2015-09-23T10:34:56-04:00September 23rd, 2015|Movies|0 Comments

Pope Francis 2Pope John Francis is visiting the United States and is coming to Philadelphia starting on Friday. As someone ignorant to religion, I have to ask, what’s the big deal?

I know practically nothing about the Pope. If you asked where he was from I’d say the Vatican. If you asked where is that I’d guess somewhere in Italy (closer to Rome after Googling). What do I know about John Francis? Absolutely nothing. Do I have any desire to see him? Negative desire.

After more Googling to write this post, John Francis is a more laid back pope than previous Pope’s and has empathy for poor people. His less stringent morals on Catholicism bother die hard Catholics who feel he should respect prior ideals.  His visit marks the 4th time a Pope has visited the States and our city is expecting 1 million people.  Head for the hills.

Where does Schindler’s List come in?

22_top25greatestvillainsIt doesn’t.  I watched it and it’s probably my favorite movie of all time.  The premise of one man saving 1,100 is more powerful than 99% of the movies about bullshit and stupid ideas.  Liam Neeson’s acting is phenomenal and the real star is Ralph Fiennes as Amon Goeth who is quite intelligent with a heinous mindset.  Brings tears to my eyes every time.

Now if I had to choose between worshiping the  Pope (a guy who previously worked as a bouncer), or a man who put his life on the line to save 1,100 people during a period of time where it was unheard of for a German to stand up for Jews, I think I’d choose Oskar Schindler.

There is no real reason for joining these two events together other than to say watch Schindler’s List if you haven’t.  It’s from 1993 and will make you appreciate life.  It will deliver a stronger message to you than watching the Pope from a Jumbotron 1,600 meters away.

Week 2 of Football Sucked

By |2015-09-22T08:40:48-04:00September 22nd, 2015|Sports|1 Comment

These first 2 weeks have been rough.  Where to even begin.  Well, lets start with where I was last year.

Good to know I’m equally bad this year. I didn’t keep track of my win totals betting but I know that I’m down exactly $200 Bovada dollars on NFL and College. My college record is 1-5 which a monkey could pick better and my NFL is not much better.

dklineupI didn’t deposit any cash into Fanduel so I was playing with last year’s money but that’s down to $13 from $50. The only deposit I made into DraftKings since I won $100 bucks on some golf tournament is $100 and my balance is $45 which means I’m down around $150. Even worse is if you look back at that one post I put my lineups in, the team that was my best didn’t even get entered in a tournament which I can’t explain.

Fantasy is not going great as I’m 2-8 this year losing one game by .6 and another by .3. My teams are scoring points but I’m hitting fire in my matchups.

Throw in a week of accurately picking 3! games in a league where all you have to do is pick the team that wins and my hands are being thrown up in the air like WTF.

Obviously football is not an exact science. The idea of predicting events to happen before they do is not as easy as it sounds. Despite every huge winner on the DraftKings commercials, real life isn’t so easy. This season is obviously testing my resolve. On to week 3.

To Beard or Not To Beard

By |2015-09-21T08:05:52-04:00September 21st, 2015|My Life|0 Comments

This was about 10 days of growing out my facial hair. Towards the last couple days I started feeling different with the beard. It’s like it was still me but the people talking to me were talking to bearded me. I got a few compliments but I’m fairly certain most people were indifferent. What do you think?

4:59 PM on a Friday

By |2015-09-18T17:31:26-04:00September 18th, 2015|My Life|0 Comments

…and I’m still at work.

Today was a complete catch up day after being out of the office for 4 days.  It was non stop from 8am until the end of the day.  I’m not even sure where to begin.

Typical Vacation Day:

birdies7am – Wake up feeling great.  Run to Wawa to grab some coffee and pineapple.
7:30 – Mom makes me eggs and bacon while I peruse the papers JC bought.
8:00 – Scan Rotoworld, Fantasy Pros, and make sure all my fantasy and DraftKings teams are up to date.
8:30 – Read whatever book I feel like reading while listening to whatever music I feel like listening to.
10:00 – Hang out by the pool, swim laps, play rummy, general relaxation.
11:00 – Go for a run.
12:00 – Eat lunch.
juliaholdingsun1:00 – Relax on the beach.
2:00 – Play golf.
6:00 – Eat dinner.
7:00 – Watch TV, drink beer, and play games until I get tired and want to go to sleep.

I did this for 5 straight days. I enjoyed myself each and every day.

My Work Day Today
sunrise27:45 – Wake up feeling pissed off that I know today is going to be a nonstop work day.
8:00 – Listen to 30 messages on the answering machine.
8:15 – Process all of the orders that came in over the break.
9:00 – Ship out all of the orders.
12:00 – Respond to all people who desperately needed the product yesterday.
1:00 – Pay bills that pile up over the week.
2:00 – Invoice.
3:00 – Create PO’s for items that were depleted.
4:00 – Update cash sheet with current position.
5:00 – Cry.

I don’t think there was 1 minute of today that I could say I actually enjoyed. Sure I feel refreshed but the only part I keep going back to is how much I was enjoying doing whatever I damn well pleased.  I didn’t even get to read Evan Silva’s matchups which is pretty much a top 5 part of my week.  I will hopefully add an in depth football preview tonight.  But just in case, here you go Rob Kelly.
