Here’s a trailer from the new season. I wasn’t going to post anything about this when I watched it but the ending of that trailer made me. I don’t care what people say about that show, this isn’t acting. Yes there are tons of falsehoods about the show and calling it reality TV is a joke, but what these “characters” do is real. Seeing Snookie work out should also show what kind of perception there is about becoming famous and what famous people should look like.

Buck County Country Club Golf Experience

By |2011-07-30T20:56:39-04:00July 30th, 2011|Golf Course Reviews|0 Comments

3 of us played at Bucks County Country Club today. It was pretty hot at about 90 degrees and the course wasn’t too crowded. They told us just to show up without a tee time to give you an idea of how crowded it was. At $60 dollars with a cart, I think it’s a bit overpriced. This was their normal rate and not twilight. A 45 dollar price tag would seem more appropriate. They have range balls to hit for free which is a nice amenity. The starter was kind and let us tee off on two instead of getting stuck behind a group of 8 which allowed us to finish in about 3 and half hours. We actually ended up playing 1 to finish off our 18 and than played the other 8 to finish 26 holes for the day. They didn’t say anything but I feel I earned that for 60 bucks.

I finished the day with an 87 which was pretty good. I was 41 on the front and only had one double. On the back I carded 2 triples and a double. I only lost 1 golf ball on the day and the course is pretty forgiving. Some fairways are narrow but usually an errant drive just hits some trees. I probably used driver on 12 holes and a 2 iron on the other two. We played the blue tees but they really weren’t much different than the whites. On my good drives I was going driver 8 or 9 iron into the greens so it really isn’t that long of a course. I thought the course was in pretty good shape for the lack of rain and played fairly. I would give this course about a 6.5 out of 10. If it was priced right I’d probably give it closer to an 8.

You’ll see that I added a forum at the top of the page. With all the participation that I get through the comments to my posts, I don’t exactly expect to get much out of this. It’s more of something to have but you never know, it might be a hit. I’ve created a couple of topics but feel free to create your own. Know that at least I’ll respond.

In other news, it’s the weekend. I got a bit too bombed last weekend and I need to keep it in check this weekend. I’m considering doing the Sea Isle 10 miler next weekend so that would give me some motivation not to get wrecked this weekend. I also plan on playing golf a couple of times this weekend. We are probably going to play Riverwinds on Saturday and Lederach on Sunday. It’s just CK4 and I on Saturday. If anyone reads this and is interested in playing call, text, or email me.

Fantasy Football Studs Part 2

By |2011-07-29T15:50:54-04:00July 29th, 2011|Sports|1 Comment

A few days ago I gave my thoughts on 3 of my top fantasy players for the 2011 season. Here are 3 more that will fly a little under the radar.

Jimmy Graham – TE
jimmy graham
In the last 7 games of the season he averaged 36 yards per game. Not spectacular but in his last 3 games he had 4 TD’s. He’s 6-6 and weighs 260. Drew Brees is one of the best QB’s in the league and he has underachievers in Colston and Moore. Graham is going to be the starter and I assure you he will be a quality TE this year.

Kenny Britt – WR
Kenny Britt
Yes, he got arrested during the off season. He plead not guilty and probably won’t be reprimanded because it was during a “lockout.” Can Kenny Britt play football? Even with Kerry Collins at QB, let’s look at the numbers. He averaged 72 yards per game and had 7 TD’s in his first 7 games. Yes this includes a 225 yards, 3 TD game vs the Eagels but it still shows the potential. He was injured and he missed the next 5 games. I think you know he’s not playing 16 games when you draft him for one reason or another. He finished the last 4 games of the season and averaged 85 yards per game and caught 2 TDS. If he falls into the later rounds, he’s worth a gamble.

Miles Austin – WR

I really like Miles as a player on a team with limited WR’s. People may think Dez Bryant is the next best thing but I just don’t see it. Romo and Miles have a strong relationship that Dez Bryant isn’t breaking up this quickly. Miles is consistent and his numbers are deceiving because Romo went down in Week 6. In the 4 games with Romo at QB, Miles averaged 118.5 yards a game with 2 TD’s. The rest of his season was still pretty good but I promise you he will go later in drafts than he should.

Obama not working

I want to take a moment and explain why America is suffering. First problem, we have way is to many handouts. Welfare, unemployment checks (99 weeks is preposterous), food stamps… call me inhumane but the reason these poor people never amount to anything is because they are taken care of for not doing anything. Let’s fix this budget by finding smarter ways of turning laziness into productivity. Any thing in the US budget that is “helping out the needy” should be turned into a program like FDR’s New Deal. The Gov’t should set up work and have people earn a wage that way. If they’re too lazy to want to work for money than let them rot. I really have little sympathy for people who expect others to help them out. Nothing in life is free. So what do I propose?

To the man and woman who don’t plan (or do to take advantage of handouts) on having 9 kids with no means of income and than wonder why they don’t have enough money to survive, they should be exiled. Your income should justify how many kids you are allowed to have. If you start breaking the law, you should be punished. These people are a drag on the economy.

The Gov’t should give a “find a job” bonus. This bonus can be received once a year and is only available to the unemployed for longer than 1 year. This will prevent job hoppers. Give people a bigger incentive for finding a job other than just having a job. 500 bucks seems adequate. I’d also pay it out upfront. Sounds insane but here’s the caveat, you can’t quit the job for at least a year or you forfeit the bonus. Now I’m sure people think they will just take the money and run but here’s the best part, it’s considered the ultimate crime and you get the death penalty if you are caught. As a ruler, I’m much more strict and cruel. I could have wrote life in prison but than you have to feed them and keep them alive, death penalty is much cheaper.

Society needs to fear the death penalty. It’s so stupid to give a 50 year old 50 years in prison for doing something bad. Just kill them rather than keep them alive and waste money. I suppose if they have value in prison that’s one thing but if they are just going to eat food and do nothing, kill em. Plus any murder someone commits should be the death penalty, aside from self defense. Take a life, give your life. See how much murder rates drop if death were the penalty. Just to be clear, people like Bernie Madoff also deserve the death penalty.

Part of the problem with America, and why everyone wants to live in America, is because it allows freedom and is generous with it’s people. Freedom and Generosity = DEBT. Sure everyone loves you but you get run over. Look at China, they have all sorts of rules and regulation and their people are miserable but they will own us and the rest of the world in 20 years. What’s the solution? I don’t know and Obama doesn’t either. Good luck USA.

* I don’t usually edit but here is one more thought. If a real hard-ass ran for President and preached some of these “cruel” stances, he’d have 0 chance at winning. Why? Because a soft president gets all the votes from the people he’s handing out all these gifts too. You think the people who aren’t well off would ever vote for someone saying I’m going to be strict to correct this mess?

Some random thoughts

By |2016-11-01T23:38:13-04:00July 28th, 2011|My Life|0 Comments

A comment on this post read:
“terrible job by you here. you have enough time to make fun of a legend in the film industry, but don’t have enough time to use spell check on your pathetic blog. get a grip. its you that sucks. people like you who are spineless rats, sitting in their sad dungeons , thinking people give a shit about what they have to say. You should find a new hobby.”

Comments like this make me happier than getting no comments at all. At least I know the guy is reading through my post. I just want to point out that I can never take anyone who never capitalizes the start of a sentence seriously. I also want to note that he reached by site by the google search “apply for a job at happy madison production.” So I obviously pissed off a fan boy and got put in my place. I actually re-read the post and couldn’t find any spelling errors and still stand by everything I wrote back then.

I forgot to point this out in the Curb episode on Sunday. When Larry bumped the car in the driveway by accident and he said he was trying to JUST use his mirrors, are you kidding? I knew there were people out there who didn’t use their mirrors to back up but this just shocked me. His comment made is seem like the standard way to back up was to turn your head 180. If I have a child, I promise you he will get scolded for turning his head around while driving. Using the mirrors is such a safer way of driving and anyone who doesn’t is automatically a level below “good” drivers. You can’t be a good driver without understanding mirror driving.

Google also deactivated my adsense account for some reason, most likely people clicking on ads with no real reason. I don’t really see how I can avoid this but I appealed their decision and we’ll see what happens.

I feel like these posts I’ve been making have been really good lately but that’s just my opinion. I know it’s difficult to get feedback, but anything on any post is useful to me.

Better by Comparison

By |2011-08-10T23:19:23-04:00July 27th, 2011|Sports|0 Comments

Sometimes things and people benefit from being better by comparison.  Here are a few examples.

Brandi Passante
Brandi Passante looks good
Brandi from Storage Wars is a great example of better by comparison. She benefits greatly from the fact that there isn’t another girl on the entire show. She’s relatively attractive, say a 7, but considering the fact she’s the best thing to look at on the show, she becomes a 9. Good face, skinny, pretty hair and a bitchy attitude, she gets it done. I guarantee there are guys who are drooling over this girl as they watch the show. I also want to add that I know the reason for Storage Wars popularity, it’s the intrigue and curiosity of what’s inside these random storage units. People LOVE what they don’t know. There is a sense of excitement from purchasing a unit that you don’t really know how much it’s worth and you look like a genius from being able to pick out a good locker. People eat up the unknown. Darrel, the gambler, is the thriftiest, worst character on the show. Plus they overvalue everything. They put a used golf bag at 50 bucks and you can buy brand new ones better than that for 50 bucks. Sorry I’m watching the show as I type this and expressing my frustration.

Kevin Love
Kevin Love
This is a little unfair and doesn’t fit exactly into this post, but being the best player on the Timberwolves is like being the most popular kid in the Glee club. Is he as good as his stats say? Doubtful. He is better because he has no one else on his team who is any good. He does it all on a bad team and he looks like an all star. What happened to Chris Bosh’s numbers when he went to the Heat? For accuracy, the Timberwolves were 27th in the league in FG% and 1st in O boards. Also note that their PACE factor (an estimate of the number of possessions per 48 minutes by a team) is #1 out of all 30 teams. Kevin Love played 36 minutes per game and is the Timberwolves. He looks good but is completely OVERRATED.

Facebook

Fairly obvious but they have no competition. Show me another social website that has 700 million users. It doesn’t matter if Facebook is good or not because you are going to use it no matter what. Even if another social website had a brilliant interface and applications that can suck your dick, you still wouldn’t join because you’d be all by yourself (as you are with google+ now). Status updates on Facebook are just annoying at this point and it’s whole chat system makes me feel completely back in middle school. I get advertising spammed and flooded with virus links. Facebook makes me feel like a digital stalker sometimes. It’s really not all that great but there isn’t anything better, therefore, it’s amazing.

Fantasy Football Studs for 11′

By |2011-07-28T16:21:04-04:00July 27th, 2011|Sports|0 Comments

I feel like I’ve earned at least a tad bit of credibility for my performances last year. In 4 leagues I took 1st in two leagues, 2nd in one, and 3rd in the final one. I obviously got lucky in a couple with key pickups like Brandon Lloyd and LT, but in one league I drafted Apete, Jamaal, and Darren McFadden so get at me dawg. Obviously all this information is my own and there are plenty other better sources than me so don’t view this as the end all, just what I think.

Jamaal Charles
Jamaal Charles
Yes, I’m going to take him early. Ideally you want the 10-12th pick and you take Jamaal with your first pick. He lead the league with an avg of 6.4!!!!!!! yards per carry. The next closest guy was 5.6. If he gets more carries, which he should, he’s the #1 RB in the game. I’m being unbelievably stupid divulging this information but this is going to be his even bigger breakout year. To boot, he was 14th in receptions among rb’s which is great for ppr and 9th in total yards. The guy is a stud and worth a 1st round pick. He drops to the second round and you’ve got yourself a huge steal.

Darren McFadden
Darren McFadden
1st round pick? I don’t see why not. 1,157 yards in 13 games last year. 47 catches for 507 yards (6th among rb’s in yards for 13 games!). 10 tds! Yes he’s on Oakland and morons talk about sharing time with Michael Bush . WAKE UP! He’s young at 24 and ready to break out with a better season than last year. Avoid injuries and you’ve got a stud. Drops to the second round and you snag him up.

Roddy White
Hot Roddy Flipping
Led the league with 115 catches which is dynamite for ppr. That averages to 7 points per game PLUS any yards he gets. He got in the end zone 10 times and he’s Matt Ryan’s (a up and coming ELITE QB) favorite target. This is really a no brainer and the question really becomes how early do you get Roddy? I’d probably pass on him until the beginning of the 2nd round and I’m taking him with any late 2nd round pick.

I know I threw out some pretty cupcake picks but I’m not sure everyone really understands how good the players are I highlighted. It’s not until someone puts information in front of your face do you start to believe. I’ve always had the philosophy of never drafting a QB with the first round pick because the difference in great QB’s isn’t as great as the RB’s. Why did I win the league last year? I had 3 RB’s in the top 10 who didn’t get injured, simple as that. I can even back this up with some data from our league last year. Notice what round the manager drafted a QB and what place they finished:

Round QB was drafted 1st – 3rd place (picked up Vick btw)
”                 ”                 ”   2nd – 9th
”                 ”                 ”   2nd – 6th
”                 ”                 ”   3rd – 5th
”                 ”                 ”   3rd – 8th
”                 ”                 ”   3rd – 11th
”                 ”                 ”   3rd – 10th
”                 ”                 ”   4th – 2nd
”                 ”                 ”   5th – 5th
”                 ”                 ”   6th – 1st
”                 ”                 ”   6th – 4th
”                 ”                 ”    7th – 12th

People who drafted QB’s in the 4th, 5th, and 6th round took 4 of the top 5 spots. AND the guy who got 3rd didn’t even use his 1st round pick and was vaulted by Vick’s performance which shows he didn’t even need his 1st round QB pick. This did not happen by accident.

I’m going to give one more tip that I shouldn’t give. Picking up injured or suspended players in later rounds is a brilliant idea. For instance, CK4 got Roethlisberger real late and after the 4 game suspension, he became his starting QB. I picked up Sidney Rice and Santonio Holmes last year, who didn’t play til at least week 10, and by week 16 not only did I have my core of RB’s, I had another 4 WR’s to choose from.

Paying attention to diamonds in the rough and consistent performers is way smarter than going for sleepers who don’t pan out. Drafting rookie RB’s is the biggest gamble of them all by the way and in my opinion ill advised. I’ll just throw out a few more names who I’m probably going to stay away from MJD because of Jennings and injury, I would have said APete but with McNabb at QB he should be just fine and Shonne Green who just never seems as good as the hype.

Google+’s Growth

By |2011-07-27T09:20:48-04:00July 27th, 2011|My Brain|1 Comment

It’s really not a fair chart because Google has millions upon millions of users and isn’t as a start up like Twitter and Facebook were. However, I think everyone can rest assured that Google+ will grow exponentially and at a quicker pace than the other two social media companies. Everyone uses Google. I used to have Yahoo as my home page because I liked all the other categories like Finance and Sports. Problem was I found myself having to URL Google more often than not and now I just go to Yahoo when I think about it. Google+ will grow and grow and has way more potential than Facebook for the above reason, everyone uses Google. Right now Google+ is barren. I have 10 friends. Once it becomes public and more people start joining, people will see the allure. I personally don’t find it that amazing but than again, I don’t really think Facebook is all that good either. People don’t like change but this is Google we are talking about. This company owns the way that people find information. The phrase “knowledge is the greatest weapon” (sort of made that up) is like saying Google holds the greatest, most powerful weapon in controlling how people learn. One year from now Google+ will have 100 million users and will provide a threat to Facebook. By 2013, I predict we’ll see Google+ with an equal number of users to Facebook. Don’t quote me on that.
