Thinking and Delivering

thinking-man

Thinking leads to better performance. This seems fairly standard but putting it into action is not. I can sit here and churn out entry after entry of complete garbage if I post anything I see that I find mildly interesting. You raise to the next level by not only forming better ideas, but then taking your time so they are explained clearly and presented properly. This is why Twitter has taken off because people can see something and then are limited to 140 characters to explain it. This forces them to be compelling and concise which is wildly entertaining (for those who are good at it). This blog takes a little more thought.

I have a visitor counter on the right side bar where you can see how many people visit the site daily. Yesterday’s 459 was a number that doesn’t hit that often. What happens when people actually visit the site is that it puts pressure on me to not only post more often, but to increase the quality of posts. You see where the contradiction lies. I need to post more and think more in the same time period. People can rise up when this occasion occurs.

Life is also about striking while the iron is hot. Many people only get a short window of time to make something happen. Take Rebecca Black for instance, she grabbed the attention of the world with Friday and now followed up with the mediocre Saturday. Rebecca Black won’t be relevant 5 years from now but she is taking full advantage of her time in the spotlight. Longevity is incredibly demanding and most people are not up for the test. That’s why when you gain any type of recognition (this blog is barely that), you must understand that nothing lasts forever and going after it while you can is paramount.

What I’m getting at is that if I want to make this website more serious, I have to continue to improve and make better posts. Better posts require more thought in every aspect. I need to use superior words, have impeccable grammar, come up with different ideas from the norm, and do it in brief time periods. I think this is where most people quit. Once it gets to the point that you’ve reached a certain level with what is considered your full effort, you get tired. The people who prevail are the ones who fight through and keep at it. I intend to add this element to website and will hopefully show that in the coming weeks, months, and years. If you’ve read this far and are a new visitor, I wanted to give you an idea of where I come from.

The Life and Times of Tom

Philadelphia

I posted this blog’s link on Facebook which I haven’t been doing the past few months. The goal being to get some new readers and expand this blog’s network. Plain and simple, it worked. Today’s traffic will hit almost 500 people and the Facebook link brought in 80+ people so far. You’ll be interested to know that the split between Facebook on a computer and mobile was 50/50. This was by far the most attention the site has ever received through social media and I have a good idea why. The picture that I used when I posted my link had two me’s. It was the shopped picture of 2 of me and I think that actually drew people in. I made sure to have some decent posts lined up so when the people got here they saw the hottest girls posts. I made a mistake because I posted the Javale McGee post which isn’t as general as the females. Nevertheless, hardly anyone bounced and traffic has been growing at a steady clip the last few weeks.

Unfortunately, even with all these extra eyes it’s nearly impossible to draw a comment out of people but I’ve learned to live with that. This blog is really missing the participation that could take it to the next level but I put that on myself to a great extent. It’s up to me to participate in other networks and get other groups to view my blog. My participation dictates others. I have enough trouble trying to generate constant content that being fake in forums isn’t my intent. Needless to say, I’m pretty excited that the site is starting to get recognized on a higher level. Before I was getting fluke traffic (Brandi and Siri Cruise) but now there are more pages that are being viewed more often. Even though there’s no monetary gain, it’s a success that more eyeballs are seeing things I’ve posted even if its taken 4 years.

Just to comment on my actual life for a minute, the snow wasn’t much of a nuisance and is practically gone. It was short lived. A great relief to me is that I’m finally able to get back on the treadmill at the gym. My knee prevented me for quite some time and I’ve been able to run 3 times in the last 4 days accomplishing 4 miles each day. I was 24:02, 23:56, and 23:44 today. I should be able to drop to 23 in a few weeks and that will make me feel like I’m back into shape. I know it sounds ridiculous to some but being out of shape isn’t how I’m trained to live my life. Conditioning and fitness is a part of life and being stricken of that can make me miserable. Don’t get injured!

I’ve been working hard at learning German as well and am making progress. I’m able to read it better than write or say it but that will come with time. I’m trying to put an hour a day and if I do that for 2 months I think I’ll be prepared to at least get around. My photoshop skills are also getting better and I’ll have some new displays in the next few days. It’s fun to mess around with but also very time consuming. All in all, I feel good and things are moving along. I feel a bit inactive but I have some plans to change that up. Til tomorrow I leave with you the OOOOh Kill em Tuturoial.

JJ Treats Nate While Javale Films

By |2013-12-10T14:05:02-05:00December 10th, 2013|Sports|0 Comments

JKash pointed out this clip on Javale McGee’s instagram and we had a few questions after trying to decipher some conversation.

The situation is JJ Hickson is helping Nate Robinson with a muscle cramp while Javale McGee films. Here is the assumed dialogue.

Nate Robinson: ARRRGGGH!
JJ Hickson: “calm down eh dancer (inaudible).”
Nate: “Nahhh, let me standup, lemme standup, lemme standup.”
JJ: “I need to get some whole milk. We gotta rub, we gotta rub some milk on it.”
Nate: “Ah, fuck that, let me stand up.”
Javale McGee: “I wasn’t gonna eat dat shit.”
J.J.: “Shihh i am.”
Nate: “Turn that shit off.”

A few questions:
Why is the gallon of fruit punch hanging out? After viewing JaVale’s instagram, I noticed a #juglife which may have some answer.
juglife

Why is the starting center providing treatment to Nate Robinson when they travel with a training staff? Probably the most perplexing although I know the point the toes to the ceiling is the best method to relieving the pain of muscle cramps.

What kind of sock is Nate wearing?

Why does the plate of chicken pass so perfectly?

5 Overrated Female Celebs of 2013

By |2016-10-28T15:26:14-04:00December 10th, 2013|Celeb|1 Comment

After ranking the #5 hottest female celebs, I wanted to rate the top 5 overrated female celebs. Essentially, they think they are hot, the critics say they are hot, but they aren’t that hot. They aren’t upper echelon attractive when compared to the best. Without further ado, my top 5 overrated female celebs. I’m obviously not picking their best pictures on purpose.

5. Jennifer Lawrence
She has the cute thing going for her but I don’t think she’s sexy. I don’t think her eyes open enough. She’s a pretty girl, but she’s not top 10 hottest girls. She’d be the hottest girl in your class, not in the world.

4. Rihanna
I constantly hear how hot Rihanna is and it most be a race thing. Her face is really wide and her nose is huge. Her hair is always goofy and she looks foreign to me. Not foreign like from another country, but foreign from another planet.

3. Cameron Diaz
Other than the Mask, Cameron has never done it for me. Her short hair in Something About Mary was unsightly. She somehow ascended the ranks of super stardom tricking everyone that she’s good looking. I think what bothers me the most is that she portrays the super hot when it’s obvious to me she isn’t. She’s like a solid 7 pretending in all her films to be a 10.

2. Gisele Bundchen
Tom Brady is better looking than Gisele. She has nice hair but that doesn’t save her from being overrated. I certainly wouldn’t classify Gisele as ugly, she just isn’t as hot as people say. I think it’s that her eyes are too squinty and her nose is big. Tom Brady could have done better.

1. Miley Cyrus
She was rated #1 this year in Maxim’s Top 100 and I can’t see the appeal of the short haired punk chick. She just looks weird and it’s like her body is rail thin and that of a 12 year old boy. The short hair and strange tongue poses is completely unflattering. She can look good, just not usually. 1st ranking deserves the 1st overrated.

Honorable Mention – Katherine Webb, Kate Upton, Emma Stone, Emma Watson

5 Scorching Female Celebs of 2013

By |2016-10-28T15:23:04-04:00December 9th, 2013|Celeb|2 Comments

I’ve comprised a list of who I think are the hottest females on the planet right now. I have a few naughty links within that are NSFW so click at your own accord. These are my top 5.

5. McKayla Maroney
She just turned 18 and I’m using her to springboard this post. It’s not a sick, “what I would do to her now that she’s legal”, it’s more she’s a national treasure and also the hottest girl America has to offer. I follow her on Twitter and she’s constantly posting family garbage but I suppose that makes sense considering she’s 18. A girl whose life is pretty much set. I can’t see her Lindsay Lohan-ing on everyone.

4. Kaley Cuoca
I’ve only watched a few episodes of the Big Bang and she’s the only reason I’d ever watch that show. She’s got the girl next door look, the blonde hair, and cute face steal the show. A kick ass body brings it full circle. The world is her oyster.

3. Erin Andrews
At 35 she looks phenomenal. Her body is what sets her apart from other women but that’s not saying her face isn’t beautiful. She has a smile that lights up the room and the greatest hair on the planet. Not to mention she lives and breathes sports and has a peephole video!

2. Stacy Kiebler
Stacy Keibler has the longest, sexiest legs on the planet. After wowing me on the WWE and an incredible Stuff magazine shoot, she is unforgettable. I think her face could be the #1 of all time. Plus she dates George Clooney and owned Dancing With the Stars. What more do you want?

1. Lucy Pinder
If the rest of the hottest people alive are 10’s, Lucy Pinder is a 12. She is the full package of a female. Not only is she drop dead gorgeous but she takes her clothes off for money. She is the absolute female among females when considering beauty. She is currently the highest paid glamor model which should say something about my claim to how hot she is. There is no more need for ranking, let the pictures do the talking. The best pictures are found NSFW here.

You won’t make it through this video.

Honorable Mention:
Katy Perry, Emily Ratajkowski, Jennifer Love Hewitt

Conshohocken Bbball

bball

I went to watch the rec bball league in Conshy that a bunch of my friends play in. Before the game Ck4, Jeff, and I ate some wings at the Bayou in Manayunk and CK4 loaded up on a quantity of 30, 25 cent wings an hour before the game. I thought this may have slowed him down a bit but he wasn’t worried. The other team was wearing these bizarre camo shirts and looked kind of scrubbish but as I’ve learned many times over, you can’t judge a book by the cover. Bud opened the game with a quick deuce off a board and continued his hot start routine. I think the lead may have gotten to double digits but ended only up a few at the half on a rainbow 3 by some dweeb on the other team. Not much changed in the 2nd half as the team started strong and was hitting buckets. Things got interesting towards the end with some interesting play. With about a 1:30 left it was a tight game with our team up a few and they needed to foul 9 consecutive times to get to the penalty. Once this happened, we shot decent from the line but they weren’t missing anything. They tied the game up with 6 seconds remaining on some poor defense. Amazingly, they were in foul mode and fouled Corey with 2.8 seconds to play to send him to the line. He made both shots and the game ended. Very strange. Below is the box score from my efforts. I don’t claim 100% accuracy so don’t tell me about a block you had in the beginning of the game.

Weekend Recap

By |2013-12-09T17:35:38-05:00December 9th, 2013|My Life|0 Comments

maxresdefault

I don’t want to devote an entire post to my weekend because it wasn’t that interesting but I have nothing in the blog pipeline so it puts me in a spot. I’m going to share some of the highlights from the past few days in brief form and that should give me some time to prepare for a new post with some actual thought in it.

– My Spotify playlist is killing it right now as it’s filled with new music galore. Since I’ve seen exactly 0 new followers, I’m aware that no one listens.

– My Fanduel team will take 1st place if Josh McCown outscored DeMarco Murray by 8 and Alshon Jeffrey scores less than 12. It was a 50 dollar 10 man league with 3rd taking 90, 2nd 145, and 1st 225. I’d like to think I can manage a 2nd but 3rd seems likely.

– Missing the fantasy playoffs in 4 leagues is damaging considering how awesome football was yesterday and how well my team in Evan’s league would have performed. 2 things, not starting Stafford against the Rock and Chad beating me by .2 kept me out of 2 playoffs.

– I spelled the title wrong in my last post and I’m not sure if no one saw or just didn’t want to comment.

– I went out in Manayunk on Saturday and have no desire to go back.

– McKayla Maroney turned 18 and she will spearhead my next post.

HBO’s Sport in America: Our Defining Stories

By |2013-12-07T14:41:41-05:00December 7th, 2013|Sports|0 Comments

I watched a tremendous program on HBO called Sport in America: Our Defining Stories. It debuted on Thanksgiving but I hadn’t heard anything about it until I accidentally stumbled across it this morning. I only planned on seeing what it was and ended up engrossed for 2 hours. Here is a quick video description.

What I took out of the program was how diverse America is. The stories that range from a wheelchair racer, a Jewish swimmer, a woman field goal kicker, a Mexican pitcher, and black boxer. No other country comes together like America and because of all this diversity and acceptance, we have risen to be the most dominant country in sports. You don’t see Caucasian athletes winning gold medals from China but you will find incredible Asian figure skaters. America is like a cornucopia of the best of everything sports related. It’s because to be the best, you have to be specialized. This is no secret but it’s why America has such a leg up on other countrys.

The diversity is America’s advantage. Our country is made up of so many different races that we have individuals who can excel at their passion. Since American stands for freedom and is the land of opportunity, it takes in the best of what the world has to offer with no exclusions. It’s truly and amazing ideal and the unbelievable results that are seen. Do you know that the US has won 2,653 Olympic medals? The next closest is the Soviet Union with 1,204. This is an incredible gap and should help explain why freedom should be universal. The real point to take out is that it this doesn’t only apply to sports. It’s ideas, thoughts, relationships, and everything else that a melting pot of people bring together. After watching this documentary I felt a stronger bond to what it’s like to be an American.

Other countries won’t have the celebrated background that this documentary shows. It’s titled, Sport in America. Other countries aren’t watching this documentary in their homeland because they have no interest. With the Olympic medal count as a barometer, our country has the most decorated sports history. This is the best sports history on the planet. So to be an American and watch how sports affect people’s lives, there is a real sense of nationalism that most documentary’s don’t bring out of me. I teared up at least 3 times during it and that is a complete rare event. The Boston fan and the cemetery and Brandi Chastain and the soccer penalty kick were two moments. I highly recommend you watch it and comment on this post and see if you felt the same way I do.

Water Pricing Evaluation at Sam’s club

By |2013-12-06T11:36:45-05:00December 6th, 2013|My Brain|4 Comments

At Sam’s Club yesterday I was doing an experiment that involved people’s preferences about water. I didn’t set out to do it but I did it after realizing what was happening if you were wondering. What I deduced is that people are willing to pay more for water than they should and are too stupid to realize it.

Unless I’m wrong about this thought, water is water. I’m not sure if there are different levels of water pureness but my overall feeling from drinking thousands of bottles over the course of my life is that bottled water all taste the same . I can’t tell a difference from one producer to the next. With this thought in mind, I want to pay as little as possible for my water. I would think that this thought process would hold true for the masses but I’m wrong because people don’t care about nominal sums of money. Let’s take a look at the following examples and notice the selling/bullet points which all describe the same thing.

Member’s Mark
Let’s start with the smartest option and the buyers choice. 40 bottles for $3.56 equals out to about 9 cents per bottle. This is our benchmark for water.

40 bottles for $3.56 = $.089 per bottle

40 bottles for $3.56 = $.089 per bottle

Nestle
Will you pay 3.5 cents more per bottle for Kosher (aren’t they all?) and a 14 step purification process? 8 less bottles and 42 cents more compared to Member’s.

32 bottles for $3.98 = $.124 cents per bottle

32 bottles for $3.98 = $.124 cents per bottle

Aquafina
I get sticker shock by $4.48. 8 less bottles and 92 more cents compared to Member’s Mark. Why on Earth would you choose Aquafina? The 3 bullet points are sodium, gluten, and fat free.

32 Bottles for $4.48 = $.14 per bottle

32 Bottles for $4.48 = $.14 per bottle

Deer Park
5 less bottles and $1.02 more dollars when compared to our leader. I suppose 100% spring water isn’t a great selling point. This pallet had the most cases on it when I went there.

35 bottles for $4.58 = $.131 per bottle

35 bottles for $4.58 = $.131 per bottle

What I found though after observing the scene is that people don’t even bother to look at the price and compare items that are right next to each other. Obviously we are talking peanuts here and the right decision won’t make or break anyone. I found it fascinating though that people don’t even bother to shop. I believe with a purchase of this magnitude, people justify a small sum of money as something they can afford whether or not it’s the best buying decision. Water experiment closed.
