Jersey Shore Italy

I figured I’d take a minute after watching the episode to give some thoughts. Snookie is looking half decent after the weight she lost. Seeing her become a health nut is sort of unusual. JWoww looks like an alien. I think Roger has her working out too much or something. I thought Sammi looks pretty good and was pretty normal for the episode. Deena’s face looks like butt. The Pauly/Vinny bromance is gay and over the top. Ronnie is an alcoholic and Situation is going to get his ass kicked.

The episode was really lame by the way. I think they have a horrible thing going with the fact that they can’t speak to the locals. Watching the gang dance amongst themselves is really boring. The Situation/Snookie connection came out of nowhere and the fight that ensues should make for good drama. Aside from that the show was horrible. If you watched this show for the first time you’d never watch again. Unfortunately, I have nothing better to do.

Jersey Shore “Cabs are Here”

I only have created one Jersey Shore episode post but Amber said she thought it was an entertaining read so I try to write about what people want. For the first time I actually side with Sammi and applaud her decision to leave. Honestly, is Ron a complete moron? He must live on Mars because he is so out of touch with reality. I love how he said Sammi disrespected him by dancing with that guy when he was 10 feet away. At least when he was getting with chicks it was different because, “SHE WASN’T THERE”. I liked the insult of calling him a psycho because that was pretty accurate although his “useless, spoiled bitch” was just as good. Watching him whimpering after what he just did to her room and how he treated her, then at the end he is wondering why she is leaving, like seriously, if he thinks you treat people like that and they are going to stay with you, he’s dreaming. I thought the way Sammi went to the bar was awesome and I had a complete turn-around on my opinion of her. I really think she made Ron look like an idiot throughout the whole episode. Even though she hangs on every little thing of the past, which would be so annoying, I like the way she manipulates the show. She’ll be back.

Just some other highlights. When Ron was confronting Mike and it was getting heated, I thought to myself “just apologize to shut him up whether you believe it or not.” Mike was smart enough to do so which I was happy to see because apologizing is just the smartest way to avoid meaningless situations. He’s not called the Situation for nothing. Pauly calling it a “voodoo trick” Mike used was good too. Pauly had his moments when he was getting too distracted to clean his sneaks and when Ron and Mike were arguing his eyes were just completely bulging out of his head. Also, the more Deena is on the show, the more I just wish she wasn’t there. Absolutely awful casting by MTV and it’s not her fault, but just get someone better. The JWoWW – Roger thing is sort of boring but she did look pretty hot in her S & M gear.

Jersey Shore

I actually liked the episode. The human behavior is fascinating. I also love how MTV promotes “Skins” non-stop. I know I’m probably out of their age bracket but I have completely no interest in a fictional show about relationships. However the reason I think the Jersey Shore is so good is because it’s real. Do you think it’s possible to stage how hammered Nicole was? Those actions are completely out of her control, I know, I’ve been there. Can they stage how mad Ronnie gets at Sammi because if so the guy deserves an Emmy. My point is that as loco and trashy as this show is, the situation is so bizarre that these people have no choice but to get too hammered because the actual reality of it is unbearable. These people live a tough life in the spotlight with camera’s 24/7. How hard is that to do?

Just a few parts I found hilarious of the episode. When the guy was talking to JWoww and the girl told JWoww he had a boyfriend and then he starts getting pissed and she retorted with “you’re just pissed because I’m blowing up your spot.” She was right though because he was getting way to mad if it weren’t true.

The Sammi forgiving part is such hilarity too. First off she’s a complete schemer in this Reality Television. She his obviously the character who is doing the most crafting and manipulating to make great TV. She’s a reality TV professional. Now that she thought that Ronnie was going to abandon her she knew she needed friends, so she had to start apologizing to get some people back on her side. Personally if I were Snooki I’d forgive her too because the whole situation should just be viewed as a phase instead of an eternity. The forgiveness to Deena was easy for Sammi because she barely knew her so Sammi just weaseled her way through that. The JWoww gets even better because they are both stone set in it not happening. My guess is they eventually talk it out somewhere down the line. If not, it’s so petty it makes girls look bad.

The other stalker scene was strange and that girl really must be off the deep end. Pauly seems like a pretty likable guy and I’m guessing she’s just a psycho and we should be on alert for any crazy shit she may try to pull. Mike’s girl was definitely hot and an obvious good pull. Not quite as good as Vinnie’s who he just stuck it in and said see ya later without any emotion or drama. His character has really matured since the first season. His laugh impressions of Ronnie were first class and hysterical.

I know if you don’t watch the Jersey Shore than you just think this is a complete wasted post and you have no interest. If you read this far and you have absolutely no interest then you are a really dedicated reader because I would have thought you quit after paragraph one. I also want to point out that when I post songs By Britney Spears, it’s not that I’m sitting here playing this song on repeat. The way to start a blog that people actually caring about is writing about things that people actually care about. Meaning the most popular things out there (ie, most dl’d song on Itunes and the Jersey Shore which is MTV’s highest rated show and probably is saving their network.) aren’t necessarily my favorite but its good to know what’s out there.

Jerseylicious

This show is a complete train wreck. The awkwardness of actually living in this environment is such a struggle for these “characters” who are actually real people. The tension and social atmosphere is so awesome to watch that even though I feel bad, it’s like a bad car crash, I can’t take my eyes off it. Here are a few quick observations I made after watching the first episode.

The whole season can’t be as good because you can tell they all have money now and that completely changes how people act. Snooki is driving a BMW, Vinnie was in the Benz coupe, the only person keeping it real was Pauly D in that pimp mobile Caddy. Plus they go back to the same house and the living conditions should have been improved. They should have got a much nicer hooked up pad, I don’t know what MTV was thinking but they missed the boat on this one.

Watching the 8 people hang out at the house was painful to watch. First, The Situation is playing flip cup using only one hand, complete rookie move. It’s not “flip the cup” either, and anyone who thinks one hand is better than two is an idiot. The hot tub with Vinnie was unbelievably awkward and he took it like a champ. He has Snookie who wants to be with him and he just banged her best friend so she’s obviously delusional on what to expect out of him. Then she makes the situation worse and worse by saying he wants to bang the “gremlin lookalike.” I just imagine being there and wanting to jump off the building.

I was writing this in between commercials so I could get the details right and the next line was going to be “they should kick Ronnie and Sammie off the show.” I now completely understand why they need to stay. That last scene was pretty sweet. The Deena girl is really annoying but she was a great catalyst for the deeper feelings between why Sammi is the worst character on the show. The way Sammi has her nose up in the air to everyone, she got what she deserved. I love how JWoww stuck up for Snooki and clocked her after Sammi faked a punch. What a move. Sammi punching Ronnie is great too. I have no idea why they’d show that though. I don’t think anyone is going to miss Sammi because she is easily the worse character.

I’m well aware this show is the bottom form of entertainment but let’s just view it as an in depth look at a social experiment. Much easier to watch that way.

Actually something to write about

This is a very long post that I just left in one post even though I could have spread it over many posts. This will take you a while to read and will kill 5-10 minutes and it’s probably not worth the time to read it but do as you wish.

So I have quite a few topics to go over and many people to comment on. I had a sober weekend which has given me the energy on a Monday to put together a legitimate blog post. Sometimes I wonder if people like my random thoughts about random topics of if they like the stuff that I have going on in my life. I tend to think people don’t really care that much about what happens to me in RL but they are amused by what I think about topics. This however will be about things in my life that probably bore people but it’s my blog and I can write about whatever I want. I’m going to sum up some weekend events and bring it full circle to how my Monday ended up.

Since I didn’t drink on Friday, I was fresh to play touch football with a bunch of friends who decided to join the Manayunk league. We get to the field a little early and see that we are up against 6 black kids and some athletic girls who I must say were a tad bit intimidating considering this was our first game ever of football as a team. I don’t know about anyone else but this was the first organized football game I’ve played since, well, ever. The great thing about football is that it’s not that complicated and as long as you can run and catch, you should be ok. I think we have 8 people on the field at one time and we have 12 on the team so we sort of have shifts of subs. I mainly played defense but unlike some others on the team, this is perfectly acceptable to me as I could care less about scoring touchdowns. “Certain” people love that end zone. To make a long story short, the black QB had stereotypical black QB attributes and was fast as lightning but his passing accuracy was a bit suspect. I picked him off the first drive which should give you an idea how bad he was. He literally threw it to me and all I had to do was the Smalls catch from Bennie (Sandlot reference for the slow). With Bake at the helm he was lobbing balls up in the middle of the field that were unbelievably (to me) being caught by all components of our team. Jkash even managed to catch one either between his legs or with them. Evan had a couple of scores even though he was wearing a bright yellow shirt that made him impossible to forget to cover but it didn’t seem to matter. Our females dominated theirs and will be productive weapons through the season. The highlight of the game was the Shee playing D on one of their guys and after not being passed the ball, one of their guys said something like “man throw me the ball, this guy’s got two left feet!” The bottomline was that, Primetime, came through with a convincing 40 something to 20 something W and they had mostly garbage time points. I forgot to mention that we have the self credited best player in the league in Gusto and I can’t wait to see when our self declared best player meets our player with the biggest ego (CK4). I think we should have some fireworks on the field and I feel bad for Bake who has to deal with two egos that can barely fit on an outdoor field. Should get interesting.

Moving from real football to fantasy football. In Evan’s league, the Turkeys dominated Mo Motycki with the help of Austin Miles, Gates, and A Pete. I know his name is Mike Motycki but people used to call him Mo and I thought that was his first name so I just always thought it was Mo Motycki, so that’s just what I call him. The Mind Erasers wiped the floor with Gerald’s 3 beer race in Steve’s league and that was pretty obvious considering what happened in the real 3 beer race. The Nuts are teabagging their opponent in Baker’s league, although as I’m writing this I’m up 4 points and Brees needs to outscore Bush and Colston which is pretty much a guarantee at this point. And Bill Schmidt blew me out in my other league which I don’t want to go into much detail. I also survived the eliminator with a gimme Packers pick. That’s it for fake football.

I’m going to move right into some TV watching and give my takes on some shows out. I know this is late but the Jersey shore episode was really good. I’m glad they didn’t show much of Sammi and Ronnie. I think Vinnie’s character has really developed. When he was dancing around Angelina and Jose after she told Jose what happened, that was baller. He really seems to have gained a lot of confidence and is pulling some hot tail although his begging for that girl to come out was a bit lame if you ask me. I sort of think if she didn’t want to do it in the first place, why would you want her to go against her will. The Situation has shown no development in the 2 seasons and is still entertaining but what was the deal with him eating a sandwich while Pauly was getting some play. I think Pauly has been a hit with his witty one liners (when he was on the phone with the girl and said I want to bring the girl I love…and you can come too) and he’s pulling some major ass too. I find Snooki and Jwoww to be sort of blah and Angelina was a a great character to bring back. You have to have people who make things happen and she certainly does. I like how she thinks she’s all that and talks so much shit and really has no morals. I told Gusto I thought it was a good show and he said it was trash, but I retorted with it being a good look into the psyche of people of our generation and how they get along. It’s like a human experiment and I find the interactions to be very realistic even though it’s a false reality. There is definite tension among the characters and you can’t fake that.

Boardwalk Empire was interesting. I can see how people may have thought it was a little slow but I also think these are the same people who get excited by flashing lights, explosions, and loud sounds. They have to develop the characters along the entire season and I thought it was a fine intro. Steve Buscemi seems like a pretty good lead in the series and I can’t wait for Omar from the Wire to get involved. Seriously, he was the coolest character out of any series ever. I’ve certainly sat through worse series (Treme). I’ve considered watching Bored to Death again but I really wasn’t enthused after I watched the first two episodes.

We signed up for a Bball team in the Ambler Y and our first game was tonight. This is a fall league and will prep us for the winter. For the first season in 3 or so years, we found a big man. We have a 6-6 guy who is my brothers friend and will actually give us a shot at winning. He actually didn’t play the first game but we won anyway with just 6 people. We won by 15 or so and were never really in any threat of losing. Bake opened the game with a 3 ball and we pretty much never looked back. We didn’t play great but we held them to 12 points in the first half so we didn’t really need to. Jeff and I had some decent chemistry in the second half and the brother connection begins. We also added my old friend Bud Schmidt who is another good addition because we grew up playing together and get along well. Jkash adds the muscle and makes sure to get his fouls in. I have high hopes for our team as we actually have a full roster of people who have played ball before. I know Addashee feels slighted that I didn’t invite him to play and I’m publicly apologizing in my blog. However, the last winter league I asked you to play on, you only tried to play in one game and you were late and then couldn’t find the gym. Oh and I actually attempted two outside shots, both of which I missed but that will not deter me and I intend to keep firing them up.

This concludes the longest post I’ve ever written.

Some things I don’t get

When did Jesse Eisenberg get so big? I’m looking at his list of movies everyone I’d dismiss as shitty (even though I’ve only seen one). Adventureland was a snoozefest. How good could Zombieland be? Now he’s in The Social Network which is guaranteed to be a hit. If they have betting odds on how big this movie will be, I’ll take the over. When a site has 500 millions members and people make a movie about it, people will take interest. So how did this dweeby looking numnuts land the role of Mark Zuckerberg with such a dismal resume? I’m missing something. Kind of reminds me of a young Matthew Morrison.

I haven’t commented on the newest season of the Jersey Shore yet and considering it’s Thursday, now seems appropriate. The way they cast is acting towards each other must be so difficult to live through on a day to day basis. I know some people would think everything is staged but even though there are camera’s everywhere, I don’t think these 8 people are that good of actors to pull off the drama they show. You can see that something that in Angelina and Paulie’s past dealings effects Angelina. Obviously it’s the girl being really emotional to some moment she deems as important and he looks at as a hoe being a whore. Plus I liked in the first episode when Ronnie gets black out drunk because when he wakes up the next day and starts asking questions about what happened, I’ve been there so many times that to see it from that perspective was really entertaining. I think the show has lost some of it’s allure but I still find it worth watching.

I also want to make mention of a movie I watched recently called “the promotion”. It starred Seann William Scott and John C. Reilly. It was a more serious role for both of these talented actors but still had a comedic effect. I found it to be a nice change of pace honestly. It was about two ass’t managers who are vying for a manager at a new store and how their paths cross. I want to say upfront though that there is a very good chance you find this movie awful if you are expecting step brothers.

Also how many goddamn ways are there to spell Shawn. Shaun, Chone, Shonn, Shawon, Sean. Then you start throwing around De’s and Le’s. Just nice simple names like Tom do the trick. 3 letters. To the point. No fucked up Thom’s. Everyone should have learned from the Asians to just keep it short. Hu, Wang, Phuck.

Jersey Shore & Weekend

I sat down today and watched all the episodes of Jersey shore. This is probably the first show I’ve watched on MTV in probably 10 years. Basically when a lot of people like a show, even if I think I won’t like it, I’ll still check it out just to know what people are talking about. So I had pretty low expectations going in and then I started thinking it was getting better and then the end had me feeling that it wasn’t all that good. The cast is average in my opinion. To me the Situation steals the show and is really the only character that makes the show worth watching. He’s a complete douchebag but his style is certainly one where he has his moments. The Sammy and Ronnie ordeal is pretty lame and brought the show down. J-Woww and Snookie weren’t the best looking girls but at least they provided for some entertainment. Pauly seemed to old for the show and behaved the most mature. I also thought the show could have been better with out Vinnie, I don’t know what he brought to the table. It got to be a weird show because they couldn’t really stand The Situation. I didn’t feel like the group really clicked that well. I’m not really surprised it’s a hit because it’s pretty over the top, but I don’t have any real anticipation building for the finale.

Another season of 24 kicked off and we’ll see how many episodes I get through before it gets too wild for me. I really liked the first couple of seasons, plus I watched them on DVD so they were like power seasons but I just can’t get that into it anymore. The axe to the heart was my favorite part because the move was pretty smart. Another series which I’ll probably watch but not all that excited for.

This weekend was standard. Brandon Lang picked four bets on Friday which all hit so that netted me 320, but I picked the cardinals for 50 and then the chargers for 200 for a minor win this week. I also was blacked out for about 4 hours on Saturday. We drank some 100 proof Captain and it pretty much lit up anyone who was drinking it. I honestly don’t remember a thing for that time period so if I did anything stupid I don’t know about it. It’s weird too because my texts were all perfect spelling and nothing bad happened. Which usually when I’m messed up for that long of a period of time, something bad happens. That’s pretty much the deal. Another work week coming up and I’ll try to post daily.
