Personal post

This is the last time I’m going to write it but google doesn’t care about personal posts and they will drive 0 traffic to your website. More proof is that now traffic is finding my blog by searching for Tatyana Ali. I made one post months ago about Tatyana Ali, have one picture and a minor description, and now google sends people to my blog because of it. In one sense I feel slighted because that Ashley Banks shouldn’t be the driver of my traffic but on the other hand I suppose to purpose of a blog is to get as many people to read it. That being said I’ve continued to spike traffic and hit new daily highs almost daily. This is why I write I create Charlie Sheen posts because that’s what people type into google and if I make outrageous claims like he’s on drugs (I think he is despite any test data) maybe google will reward me. I’m pretty much at the mercy of google and what I’ve considered it hiring someone who knows how to run a successful AdSense campaign and see if I can turn this into supplemental income. With all that going on with the blog, I’m going to spend some time and actually write about a few things that are transpiring in my life (that google doesn’t care about).

Work is finally picking up a bit with March arriving and the weather getting nicer. Usually the winter months aren’t our best so the time of relaxation and thinking moves to getting out on the road, hitting the phone, and making sales. With this coming up on my 6th year with the family business, I’ve grown into the role pretty well and understand our entire line enough to sell it with purpose instead of a kid out of college who doesn’t know jack. It’s difficult to be good at something if you don’t have a passion for it and even though I don’t necessarily have a passion, I understand it enough to make sales which in turn is a passion, making money.

I read my brother “vent” post about online poker and I have a few thoughts regarding a cold spell. Skip this section if you have no interest. I know it feels like a few bad beats in a couple of games makes the game “cheat” but it’s really too small of a sample size to make any claims like cash out curse or letting the bad players win. You really have to focus on are you being the best poker player possible? To have routine answers to questions like is KJ strong enough to push from UTG at a 5 person table with 7 bb’s left or is this call a good call considering ICM calculations? If you don’t know what ICM calculations are or don’t use a HUD, I strongly doubt you are going to be a long term winner. The competition out there is too good now a days to be able to beat the rake because you have a basic idea of how to play. Don’t forget this is coming from a player who has terrible bankroll mgmt, loses focus and goes on tilt just as much as you do which prevents me from ever really breaking through. I get frustrated the same way you do but a serious evaluation of your game is needed before any real strides are made. You need to study the game, put in tons of hours of playing, and then decide whether the game is cheating you.

I sponsored Brian Lockard’s half marathon which donates to the Boomer Esiason foundation and it is one of the first times I’ve given more then a dollar to anything of “charity.” It was only 20 bucks but after taking Bake’s advice of giving back, hopefully this is a step in the right direction and will bring some good karma. I’m going to do a 5k that is sponsored by Kildares sometime in April and might even do an out an back with my Mom and Jeff. I did 3 miles on the treadmill today at 17:43 which I think will correlate to a 18:00 minute real 3 mile time. I’m in good shape but far away from Broadstreet shape where I hope to go under 60 minutes. I’ve failed the past two years but I think I know what it takes this year and with it being a full two months away and the weather getting nicer, I think I’ve build a good foundation from winter training to go after it with some longer runs.

Time to Blog

I have nothing to do on this fine Sunday Evening so I’m going to commit some time to creating some entertainment for the bored. I have Bruce blasting which I would attest to being fabulous blogging music. Racing in the Street my new Bruce favorite which was recommended to me by Gusto. At this point I’ve come to realize a few things about my blog:
– People care more about a lack of boredom then me personally. I completely accept this and my duty is to make this exciting so you can waste a few minutes of your boring day reading about my boring day.
– My blog’s traffic is up to 200+ viewers a day which is leaps and bounds ahead of anywhere it’s ever been previously. However my bounce rate is through the roof and you’d be amazed at how many people come from France, Italy, Indonesia and Brazil. How are these people even reading my blog let alone finding me. One thing is for sure though, google is ranking some of my pages for whatever reason. My new biggest search terms are Ashley Banks and Alex Mack.
– After watching the Social Network it’s not about making money, it’s about doing something that is cool. Or at least as cool as I can make a blog.
– I’ve gotten significantly better at creating posts that google likes. My stupid Holy Cross coach pushing the kid is bringing in searches left and right. Ck4 also pointed out to me that the coach, who eventually quit, used to teach us back when we were little at Germantown Academy basketball camp.
– I think the next step to my insignificant life is to take a creative writing course or at least learn how to write properly. I don’t necessarily look at this as a career but certainly a fun hobby that if I could create good content, I could devote some time to getting better at it. You don’t just get good at things because. It takes work.
– A final thing I noticed is how easy it is for my to crank out material on a Sunday when I don’t feel like shit from drinking on both Friday and Saturday (this week was just wed, thurs, fri…). I feel perfectly normal and good and I think that this upcoming week will be a good one. There are plenty of activites lined up for the weekend and the weather is turning. Enjoy.

The Lamps @ Dereks

I’m just going to refer to Jkash’s gf as the Lamps because I don’t think people appreciate being named by my blog. I try to use nicknames for any human references just to protect people. Hell, I even try to keep my name out here as much as possible. So the Lamps comes from the video below at about 2:57 when the guy needs someone to “bring an Amber-Lamps.”

Anyway Jka$h came over last night at about 9 or so and explained me to the secret to maintaining a good blog, “write about JKa$h.” We’ll give it a try. JKash starts pounding beers immediately as he comes over and then him, Bake, and I went to a Lamps friend to pregame for a bit before going to her Birthday party at a bar called Derek’s in Manayunk. Her friends place is pretty narrow but virtually spotless and pretty well kept. The Lamps friends are more sophisticated then us and instead of drinking games people stood around and talked. I took a few shots and then Bake made a vodka and sprite pretty strong and I think that loosened him up a little. We went to Derek’s at 11 or so and we had a few drinks and mingled a little bit. Derek’s upstairs was more narrow hallways but it wasn’t overly crowded which was fine. Bake was talking more than usual due to the alcohol and was explaining to me that money isn’t the key to life and that he actually likes giving back to the community as he says. It’s also hilarious too because he pays for things like he owes me something. He bought pizza earlier in the night and then bought me a drink. JKash also got ripped on 2 mind erasers, that he also paid for me for, for like 18 bucks and they were served in a tall, thin champagne glass which was completely absurd for 9 bucks each. In complete weasel move by me, after letting these guy buy my drinks and instead of getting them back, I was pretty drunk at this point and just sketched out without telling anybody and then went to Mad River to see Greengenes play. I can’t really explain why I just shade out without telling anyone but it has to do with getting too drunk and then just making decisions that seem rational at the time. Mad River was packed and I was there by myself which isn’t as awkward as you’d think when you are completely hammered. I watched Greengenes play their final set and there was just a barrage of pussy who love the lead singer. I remember being part of a crowd of girls but the place is just so packed it’s hard to really move. I ended buying a late night sausage from Kate and Nick and then went back by myself. All in all it was a good night and with CK4 and Evan away for the weekend, I’m all alone. We’ll see what happens tonight.

Kristen and the Noise @ Mad River

I’m a big fan of Kristen from Kristen and the Noise. Not only is she attractive but she can sing the roof off the building and has dance moves to boot. I think their song choice is decent and they have a pretty good following. Their one band member ordered a shot of jack followed by another shot of jack which is a pretty bad ass move. Ck4 and I got there at 9 and probably had about 9 beers at a dollar each. After that they bump the price up to 4 dollars which honestly pains me to pay. I probably had about 4 more at that price and I did one mind eraser by myself which seemed like a good idea. Amazingly I didn’t black out and we got a taxi back at around 1:30 where CK4 then cooked some eggs. I was playing Bruce as I went to sleep which I’m sure delighted Evan. His text message to me this morning was “I don’t mind the music but can you shut it off before you go to bed” and I agree with him 100%. I tend to get wasted, blast some music and then fall asleep with it still blasting and me being too drunk to 1) wake up and 2) shut if off. This is one of the drawbacks of having me as a roommate.

Here’s what I can’t understand. On Wednesday we went to the bar at 6 and I was drinking Scotch Ale at 8% abv. We probably left at 10 or so and I can’t remember walking back or very much once I got back. That was 4 hours of drinking only that beer and I probably only had about 6 or 7 pints. Last night I easily had 12+ bud lights and a mind eraser over a 3+ hour span and can remember everything. It gets difficult waking up each day hungover and going to work but I guess that would make me a functional alcoholic. I do have a lot of fun though hanging out at a bar with a good crowd, good band, and getting wasted so I can’t downplay that end of things. It’s just the aftermath makes things a little tiring. Everything is good though and Amberlamps is having a birthday party tonight which I’m going to attend and Greengenes is at Mad River which would be good for late night. Everyone is jetting this weekend though so I have my options open for anything if anyone is doing anything fun.

Revelation

I’m going to give credit to CK4 for thinking of something that usually skips over me. When you have an 8% abv beer in a pint glass, you are generally drinking it at the same pace as a normal Coors light draft. Meaning that you are consuming the same amount of alcohol but getting drunk at twice the speed. Obviously I know I”m drinking an 8 percenter but realizing that you are getting drunker that much quicker is the point to understand. So I’m just saying I got pretty wasted last night, went to sleep at 10 and woke up feeling like pooh. When considering the enjoyment of today with the enjoyment experienced drinking, I’d prefer to have just stayed in and done nothing but feel good today. As is, and something that isn’t a rarity, I spend my day tired and not 100%. However you make the best of it and move on. Kristen and the Noise is playing at Mad River tonight so that’s probably something that I’m going to see. Another week of the same old same old.

S(no)w

This is just getting silly at this point. It’s late February and the snow just doesn’t quit. It’s unbelievably annoying waking up in the morning and stepping out into the freezing car, warming up the car and then clearing snow off for 5 minutes. Especially today when it’s so cold out and you get the ice that freezes to the car and you have to use the scraping device which can scrape the paint. The other side is some stupid brush which is completely ineffective. Plus I find it so much easier to just shove the snow off with my arm and then the snow just sticks to my hoodie because I’m too lazy to put on my winter jacket. And when I open the door the snow just drops straight into my car. The whole situation is just a nightmare.

In other news, I read that they are checking peoples facebooks to determine if they would have any issues being a juror. Meaning if people do too much tweeting, or go on rants, or have blogs that make them out to be a lunatic… I guess in one sense that is good because I probably never have to worry about being a juror but it’s sort of annoying just because I can’t feel a part of the judicial system (yeah right). I wonder if I’d still be able to maintain this blog if I had a corporate job and someone looking over my shoulder. I guess that could be one of the main reasons most people don’t have a personal blog. I think it probably does reduce my credibility a little bit from a professional sense but if I could make money doing this instead of a “real job”, I would choose this. Honestly let me sit there for 8 straight hours and let me type about whatever I want and I guarantee I could produce some entertaining material. Although without the right inspiration sometimes it’s difficult to write. Considering I’m burning out playing poker I may have a lot of time on hands to come up with material. Probably incorporating news events isn’t a bad idea to comment on.

BMW 750i – DO NOT DO

The BMW 750i starts at $85,000. You’ll notice the two bumper stickers surrounding the BMW logo (might have to click the pictures). The one says SAS and the other “I love my wrestle.” The best way to deteriorate the value of a car is to load it up with bumper sticker. If you are driving a shit-kicker anyway, who cares, but for an $85,000 dollar piece of equipment, I’m not going all hokey and adding bumper stickers. My mom likes to put the college that her kids went to school on her car. Are we bragging that I went to Pitt because I’m pretty sure that’s nothing to brag about. Let’s also disregard that I’m taking a picture while I’m driving through a green light because that’s perfectly safe.

Crossroad

So I sort of hit a crossroad in what direction I want to take this website. Some people enjoy the celebrity posts and find it a good way to pass the time. Some people like the posts about me getting wasted and doing stupid acts of nonsense. Others only like it when I write about them. It’s just impossible to take a website and fit every person’s interest so that they are satisfied with each visit. I’m not going to go into it again but without a theme I can’t ever expect this site to take off (even though traffic has been better then ever). However, what I will do is maintain the site exactly as I have been. When Ck4 tells me that my blog is in dire straits, I have to laugh because if I tailored my blog around satisfying his interests, I’d have one reader.

Today was Valentines day and I was honestly depressed. Not because of not having a Valentine but because I was preparing my tax forms for my accountant and when I checked back to a bank statement I had in 07′, I have less money now then I did back then. Now my expenses then were practically 0 because I lived at home and had no car so it’s not a complete shock, but due to poor money management and lord knows how else I’ve spent money in those years, it’s just a rude awakening. Plus I wasn’t exactly feeling great from the weekend to boot. So it sort of just made for a lousy day. I did go to the gym and put in 4 pretty good miles which just confirms I’ll be fine for this upcoming 5 miler Saturday. If I can do any time under 30 minutes I’ll be happy but sub 29 would be ideal. I may even consider no alcohol for Saturday for a alcoholess weekend which is as rare as a non wiping deuce.

Some random things that I’ve encountered over the past day or so. I shot out each one of my keyboard keys and cleaned out the guck underneath. I probably have had this keyboard for 10 years and wow did it need to be cleaned. It’s like typing on a brand new keyboard which was long overdue. I also watched the movie Death to Smoochy which I wouldn’t exactly recommend other then saying Edward Norton is a great actor, average movie. I also have Shawshank Redemption on as I’m typing this. If you haven’t seen this movie, seriously do yourself a favor because it’s on tomorrow at 8 on AMC. I honestly put this in my top 10 movies of all time. Schindler’s List is another one that moves me the way this one does. I think it’s funny if you have people tell you their favorite movies and they spew off things like Old School or Step Brothers. Don’t get me wrong, I find Step Brothers hilarious but a good movie should give you that goose bump feeling that you know you are feeling something special. Watch Shawshank if you’ve never seen it.

Weird things people do

Everybody has their own weird things that they do which makes them unique. Sometimes these unique things make no sense at all and the normal people look at you funny. Who’s to say whats normal?

When people don’t like to finish the end of something. There will be one glass of soda left in a liter (of cola) and no one wants to be the person who finishes it because it makes you look greedy. The other thing could be that if it never gets finished, you never have to throw it out. These two things combined make lingering items. Personally, if I want something and I know it’s not mine but most likely no one would care if I had it, I go for it, no regrets.

When people are lurking around the parking lot looking for good spots up close. You can tell they just keep circling around like a pool of sharks waiting to be fed. Once I confirm that there are no spots available, I choose the best available and make do. When you do this, it also makes getting that A1 spot all the better. People are really this lazy.

I drink whole mile directly from the gallon. People have problems even understanding how other people like whole milk. 1 and 2% are just so watered down that it just has such a bland taste. I just chug it straight and I think it tastes great. Perfect for cereal because it blends the whole milk taste with whatever sugary byproduct is being released.

Evan (you have this coming by the way from the past comment) when you put dishes in the sink, you have to clean them off initially after you use them, then they go from the sink to the dishwasher. If you use the silverware and dishes, have them all dirty and grimy, let them sit for days, it makes it much harder to clear the muck from them. Plus you can’t put them directly into the dishwasher when they have hard muck on them because the dishwasher doesn’t clean them properly. This isn’t so much weird but if no one ever alerts you…

When people at the gym rest on the machine. I just really don’t understand the resting part of being on the machine. Ok you just did a set, now you have 5 minutes before you next set, get off the fucking machine. People just sit there, they stare, they sit, they wait. Naturally it’s always a machine I want to use so I just watch them and can’t confront them because I’d lose it and it would just turn nasty because I would have no kind way to approach them other then “dude you’ve been on the machine forever, shit or get off the pot.”

When people feel the need for exact change. If I have change in my pocket, I’ll try to make some simple math and get the least amount of change back. If I have enough time, I might try to get them exact change. If I’m in line, I’m not searching through my wallet to give them the amount to the penny. First off, I don’t carry change in my wallet. What is the point? I personally find change to be a burden. If it was up to me, eliminate pennies let’s round off everything to the five.

I get annoyed at people who wear head phones constantly. “I can’t be distracted by anyone and I love listening to my music so much that I’m going to isolate myself from the world and anyone who wants to talk to me is inconveniencing me by making me take off my headphones. Long rides, fine. Running, I don’t but it’s an individual thing. Ignoring the world, just take them off.

Something else that is really weird. If you have numbers in your password and then they appear on a license plate or in a phone number. I always feel like it’s some sort of a sign that I fate is bringing me to this position. Or it’s just a sick way of telling me I’m getting hacked.

I get this one sometimes at work. The person who doesn’t take no for an answer. When you tell them no, they just ask another question. When you tell them again they try more persuasion and then when you tell them goodbye they just keep talking until the phone hangs up. I guess I admire the persistence but honestly, when I tell you I have no need for what your selling, just let it be. You aren’t going to sell me if I don’t want it. I’m not weak willed and feel bad for you and buy (I did this once and it was the biggest mistake of my life).

For a quick change of subject about my life real quick. I ran 4 miles in 23:32 on a treadmill and felt pretty good. The 5 miler should be interesting because it’s going to be cold and when I was outside today, I would have dreaded running 5 miles as fast as I could in the cold. I also final tabled the 12 dollar 180 man twice in the past two days with an 8th place finish and a 4th. I haven’t been running all that well though and am sort of treading water and not getting anywhere. I finished the Soprano’s Season 1 and enjoyed it but was disappointed I don’t have any more episodes to watch. I also found the finale to be less then thrilling. Other than that I’m healthy and feel good about things.

Pornstar redundancy

Did you ever wonder how difficult it must be for pornstars to keep things fresh in their profession? I remember there was this elevator porn with Devon (search it, I’m sure it’s still around) back when I was a freshmen in college that I’ll never forget. I remember thinking how amazing it was to download things at such speed. But she was this tiny 5 ft tall, 20 year old with huge fake tits on a tiny body and she was getting railed and was just squealing like a whore. Anyway, I saw she had a new video out and it just spurred this topic for me. Let’s just say that was 10 years ago I saw her first and now we are 3,650 days into the future. I’d have to guess that she has probably done 500 scenes and probably has gotten railed at least 3,000 time since then. These are just staggering numbers and really turned me off when I consider this. I wonder if she even feels anything any more. The progression is probably so typical. Boy-Girl , Girl-Girl, threesome, black guys, anal, bondage, and then at this point they are so washed up that they will do anything for a buck. This just can’t be that great of a career. I’m sure making money to have sex isn’t the worst profession but other there has to be some level of staleness.

In other news I barely even watched the super bowl. I fell asleep at the end of the 1st quarter. I’m actually glad for Aaron Rodgers because it really shows how good of a QB he is. I also think Big Ben deserves a lot of credit for starting the season the way he did and still leading his team to the super bowl. I didn’t bet on the game even though I would have been right in the pick (documented). I’ve been caught up in my poker game and have been fine tuning my play and finally starting to make some money that is making my efforts worth while. I can’t believe it’s already Feb 7th. Seems like time is just flying by. I will be happy to get out of the winter though as the cold is just starting to bother me. The nice thing about winter though is that it keeps me going to the gym which in turn has me in pretty good shape. I’ve been feeling pretty good about things in general and hopefully there are good things to come.
