This is pretty entertaining. Here’s a video of 3 grown men trying to dive into a pool. It never even occurred to me that diving into a pool would be problematic for some but this was obviously incorrect. There is some downtime to the video but I promise you these 3 attempts are something to view. 1 million views here we come.
I actually headed all the way to Connecticut but New York was my biggest headache. I woke up at 5:00am on Wednesday to see a few customers to the North. The real reason for the trip was to see the operations of a business associate in Connecticut. That appointment was at 1pm so I decided I’d see some other customers along the route. I had a few stops in Trenton and Plainfield NJ and than I had the wonderful experience of driving through the Lincoln Tunnel. It wasn’t atrocious but my GPS lost the satellite signal in the tunnel and when I came out I was presented with a few options and I had to guess because the GPS was calculating. This put me in the heart of NYC at 9:30 in the morning and it was nightmarish. I’d drive one block every few minutes. People are everywhere crossing streets and crossing guards probably have the worst job in the world. Jobs that require driving like UPS, USPS and delivery drivers in NYC probably have nearly the worst job ever. At one point an Ambulance put on it’s lights and I was in a line to go through the Queens tunnel and I couldn’t move for the guy which was a panic. Eventually I got out and I had a customer on Long Island and than I went to White Plains, New York. My key stop was at 1pm in CT which I arrived exactly at 1.
To sum things up, I got to see the inter-workings of how a 5 million dollar company is run by 4-5 people. It was interesting to see and I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to apply some of the same principals to my business. After that visit I could have stayed over night but I decided just to drive home. We have customers in MA or VT I could have seen but that would have taken me extra hours and extra time so I said it was enough. My way back was fine until I hit, take a guess, NYC. This time the GPS had me going through Queens then over the George Washington bridge. Queens was a nightmare driving as it was complete chaos and than it took an hour to get over the bridge until I had to sit in more traffic on the Turnpike. The ride back from CT to home took about 4 hours and I was starting to lose it towards the end. I narrowly missed getting hit about 3 times at various sections. I was ecstatic to get back. I proceeded to sleep 12 hours as I was completely beat from the day.
I think following a GPS is extremely interesting. Now, I would be completely lost without it but I wonder how often it takes the right route. For it’s few downsides, it’s upside is huge. I know when I’m going to arrive, I rarely get lost and I can map a route so much easier than using a map. I can’t imagine how people did business trips 20 years ago.
I know I’ve been posting more about events and celebs than my actual life but I really get the feeling people aren’t that interested in my personal issues. It’s difficult for me to know what my readers actually like reading. The majority of my traffic comes from posts about famous people so I just assume that more people visit this website for topical events. I’ve been staying busy though. Work has been pretty average and I’ve been doing my best to stay in shape. I’m on the fence about running the Philly Distance Run only because I’m not in half marathon shape. I still have over a month to get there, and I could, but it’s just a fair amount of effort. I just feel like I’m always nicked up. My big toe nail fell off, I have a burn on my finger, a blister on my toe… the list just never ends. This wasn’t the case when I was 18. I’ve also been following the market closely and have moves in the pipeline (DUG). I’ve been staying occupied by watching the Sopranos. I’m on episode 40 of 86 and have been very entertained so far. I’m also working through the third game of thrones book which also takes a lot of time considering it’s an 1,000 page book. So life is pretty dull but I’m not bored. I wish I was more exciting because life stories would make for more entertaining reads.
CK4 asked me to post this although I made him quite aware my readers don’t participate. He is also is much more obsessed with this issue as I made sure to tell him it’s pretty mundane. Here’s what happened. He purchased a new car a few weeks ago and his old car had $275 dollars worth of damage (wear and tear). In negotiating for the new car, the dealership agreed to pick up this charge. They took this charge off of the down payment originally negotiated. Now, a few days ago he rec’d a check in the mail from the dealership for $275. Essentially he is receiving this money twice from the dealership. I want to add that this amount of money will not change his living situation and he has no major debts to pay off. Would you cash the second check and take advantage of the dealerships stupidity or be fair and return the check?

You’ll see I added some categories at the top which should hopefully make navigation easier. I spent the last half hour trying to figure out how to get the word “Therapy” removed from the header. I successfully managed to either remove it and the title or have it like it is now. I’ve been reading some posts on how to create a better website and they say the title should have keywords in it. I’ve changed my title at least 15 times now that I might stick with this one. Even though admitting to being a functioning alcoholic isn’t the grandest of titles, I’m not sure what else this blog really stands for. I can’t pick one topic and stick to it because it wouldn’t just bore you, it would bore me. I need to be able to bounce from movies to music to sports to keep it lively. I think this hurts me a bit because Google looks for keywords that are specific and I’m all over the place. I can’t figure out why my social media boxes aren’t coming up right and I messed around with the SEO options to the point that google will probably never find my web address again. I have about 160 unique visitors today mostly brought in by “amy winehouse before and after” searchs. Brandi Passante was a close second.
I feel like I haven’t written about my life much but people never seem to interested so that’s why I lean towards entertaining posts instead of my life. If I was more exciting, maybe that would change. I ran a 17:20 3 mile on the track today which was decent. I ran a 5:10 mile just 2 weeks ago in 95 degree weather so I’m pretty sure I can break 5 later in the week if I try. I’m almost done the 2nd Game of Thrones book and will write a review when I finish. I signed up for HBOGo and realized I don’t have to purchase the Soprano’s DVD’s anymore. I still want to watch MadMen but haven’t gotten around to it. I’m caught up on Weeds, Curb, Entourage, and True Blood. Curb has been the best show with the other falling into a mature, been there done that sort of feeling. Actually with True Blood it’s more like “never done that, don’t really care about that.” I’ve been feeling good and hope to get my adsense account back so I can give it another go at making some cash. Note to Mark, might not want to click my link 30 times as I have a feeling that may have got me banned. No hard feelings though for the most active reader / participant.
I think he had the $ in his name before Ke$ha so there are probably few copyright issues pending. I personally liked the period of time when he was being referred to as JSmash but he’s cleaned up his act since then. I feel like any time JKa$h is involved with something a story appears. Often times the story isn’t linked towards unbelievable athletic performance (don’t worry I’ll get there) but usually some random event that wouldn’t happen to anyone else but him.
The pedometer incident in right field is the obvious classic in the 1 softball game he played all year. Without a ball hit to him all game the top of the 7th arrives and there are two outs. The batter hits a moon ball to right of course and Jon is on his horse after it until a ditch in the ground causes him to trip and he sprawls out in slow motion time. We ended up winning the game but for some bizarre reason Jon is carrying a pedometer that I can’t remember if he found or not but was searching right field afterwards.
Jon isn’t the faster of the two brothers but I certainly would never question JKash’s hands. He didn’t become Marcedes Lewis for no reason. I’m not sure he dropped a pass all football season. He even caught one between his legs or maybe it was with his legs which showed true concentration. I have to mention he was the only person to get injured during touch football season somehow landing on his shoulder. Amazingly he missed a few games but returned for the Championship game like he didn’t miss a beat.
JKash isn’t known for his offensive prowess in Bball but he will rough up the other team when he’s on the court. A natural bruiser who isn’t afraid to commit a foul. It wouldn’t matter if he showed up in the 4th quarter, Jkash is never finishing a game with less than 4 fouls acquired. Let’s not question the Stocktonesque passing that can be seen here. Not a shoot first player but his knowledge about the game and basketball IQ are up there.
The last paragraph is always the most fun for me because I get to pick out non-sport attributes that I can comment on. I would pit JKa$h against practically anyone in knowing what jersey number professional athletes are. I think he only does Basketball but I’m sure he’ll chime in. His love for Shawn Kemp should be noted (I don’t think he likes Jamaal as much as me once saying “I hope he gets gonorrhea”). He let me know how to utilize “the twirl” with girls on the dancefloor. His love of Birdman and always having his “swag on lean” is obvious. I know about his handy man skills when we built a beer pong table together that’s been used a maximum of 5 times. His partying days may be limited with his girlfriend making sure he doesn’t get out of hand but I know Jka$h used to go out every Thursday night with me in his glory days. Besides myself, he’s the number 1 closest person in Mind Erasers consumed. Let’s also thank the Lamps for his short stint in male modeling. He also comments a lot on my blog which should be apparent that JKa$h speaks his mind more often than not leading to various degrees of situations. JKa$h has been a really good friend of mine for a long time and he’s earned my unwavering trust. I probably left out some crucial information that he’ll be sure to tell me about so maybe you’ll catch a part two. In his own words “everyone loves to read about JKa$h”.

Comments like this make me happier than getting no comments at all. At least I know the guy is reading through my post. I just want to point out that I can never take anyone who never capitalizes the start of a sentence seriously. I also want to note that he reached by site by the google search “apply for a job at happy madison production.” So I obviously pissed off a fan boy and got put in my place. I actually re-read the post and couldn’t find any spelling errors and still stand by everything I wrote back then.
I forgot to point this out in the Curb episode on Sunday. When Larry bumped the car in the driveway by accident and he said he was trying to JUST use his mirrors, are you kidding? I knew there were people out there who didn’t use their mirrors to back up but this just shocked me. His comment made is seem like the standard way to back up was to turn your head 180. If I have a child, I promise you he will get scolded for turning his head around while driving. Using the mirrors is such a safer way of driving and anyone who doesn’t is automatically a level below “good” drivers. You can’t be a good driver without understanding mirror driving.
Google also deactivated my adsense account for some reason, most likely people clicking on ads with no real reason. I don’t really see how I can avoid this but I appealed their decision and we’ll see what happens.
I feel like these posts I’ve been making have been really good lately but that’s just my opinion. I know it’s difficult to get feedback, but anything on any post is useful to me.
I like to think that this blog can sometimes be used as an educating tool with useful information so that you can feel smarter during your existence on Earth. From time to time, I do present some astonishing information that I come across in my life that most likely you’d never see. I feel like I get readers who are Sam’s friends in the young 20 range, my friends in the 25-28 range and some older lurkers who stumble upon my blog through Facebook or random Google searchers. With that demographic reading my blog, I’m curious how many of you have ever even thought about this chart below.
This should be jaw dropping for some and hopefully enlightening. First thing that should amaze you is the absurd headline they use, “The net worth of whites declined less percentage wise than for Blacks or Hispanics during the recession.” The chart says that white households, on average, now have almost 20x as much wealth as blacks and 15x more than Hispanics, up from about 11x and 7x respectively before the recession. Yes, I think that is an amazing headline, however, isn’t the real story the discrepancy in net worth? I’ve seriously been living in fantasy land. It’s common knowledge that the white race founded the country and have been leading America for hundreds of years to obtain wealth. Due to slavery and such, it’s fairly obvious African Americans had a huge mountain to climb getting started accumulating wealth. Hispanics assimilated into this nation over time and wouldn’t have the same opportunities as Whites. This range though is nothing I would have imagined. If I made a poll to guess these numbers I bet people out there would be absolutely clueless. I guess I’ve felt that the nation has progressed quicker in terms of equal opportunity. I don’t “feel” this chart. These numbers have to be put in front of my face (and now all of yours) to get a better understanding of financial terms amongst our society.
I do want everyone to know that these numbers are all going to be irrelevant August 2nd. Our divided White House won’t be able to come to an agreement. The US credit rating will be cut, our dollar will become worthless and everyone’s net worth will be equal at 0. Load up on the canned food and find shelter because there is going to be chaos. If you don’t read the paper, and this chart means nothing to you, you most likely live a carefree life immune from fiscal responsibility. Money doesn’t matter to you, you find happiness in love and the world keeps on turning. I envy that but reality tends to strike the unbeknownst first. At least you read my blog so I can give a piece of the tiny clue I have.

To this day I still wear cargo shorts. Hell, I’m actually wearing a pair right now as I type this. I’d guess 10-15 years ago when I started doing my own shopping, I thought you were a geek if you didn’t wear cargo shorts. It took me until the 6th grade to even wear a pair of jeans and I promise you I wasn’t comfortable. With my ultimate fashion wisdom, it has come to my attention that cargo shorts are out. Most people are probably well aware of this trend but I was late to the party. Does this mean that if you wear cargo shorts you are immediately black listed and put in the uncool club? Probably not because I don’t think what you wear should determine how cool you are. However, I will make the observation that I don’t think I’ve ever actually used the cargo pockets that make cargo shorts cargo shorts. Maybe the idea of having extra pockets to carry around all the extra accessory items people have is thrilling but aside from maybe a golf ball or two, it’s never come up for me. I suppose I also find regular Dockers to look a little more professional. Cargo’s look like you are ready to go on a camping trip. Considering I still own a few cargo’s I don’t think I’ll be tossing them out, rather phasing them into pants that I don’t care if I ruin them. Basically, I have clothes that I don’t care if I get dirty and clothes I try to keep nice.
I just felt like checking in so my weekend readers have something to do. I’m playing golf today which should be entertaining because we have a nice foursome lined up. I have the 10k Mud Run going on tomorrow which I”m pretty excited for. Last year I took 3rd somehow and I think I’m in a bit better shape this year. I had a few beers last night but I don’t think that will effect me too much. I’ll post tomorrow with results and hopefully have a picture of two for the blog. I’m probably going to finish up the second season of Sopranos tonight than get working on the second Game of Thrones book which I started a day or two ago.
I was a bit surprised by the outcome of the poll. To see it has mixed results so I’m pretty sure it means its a good topic to argue. My opinion is that the question has to be a bit more specific to get better answers. I think to the individual, perception is reality. They don’t know it’s not reality. Their perception becomes their reality. For example, I think Jamaal Charles it he best RB in the NFL. To me it’s true. Stats might suggest otherwise but my perception is my reality. I think anyone who believes in God and didn’t answer “yes” to perception is reality is a bit misguided. So all you god fearing people who answered “no”, you are basically saying that reality is reality but I also believe in things that may not be reality which would mean that perception is reality. I’m just confusing myself now and I’m not sure that’s even a valid point but I’m not going to think about it any longer.
