About Tom Stortz

Enjoying my last few responsibility free years left.

Really?

I haven’t updated in a week and I feel no obligation to do so. I write this so I can look back on it in years and say “wow, what was I thinking.” My goal isn’t to entertain the masses but to keep myself occupied. I’m going to write about things that people do that I don’t get.

When people ask the question “really?” after someone just said they have done something. Unless the person is a pathological liar, chances are they aren’t making it up. I catch myself asking this from time to time and it really should be deleted from everyone’s vocab. However, there are certain times I would say it’s ok. For example, I went to a bottomless mussel restaurant and ate 7 bowls. “Really” is unacceptable. Why would anyone lie about eating 7 bowls of mussels, is it really that unbelievable that is constitutes asking really? Now if I say I went to an asian massage parlor and got some up and down action and then busted in her some pretty little girls face, that would be ok to ask “really” do to the extremeness of the situation. All I can say is just pay attention to how often you say this and see if it’s appropriate when you use it.

I can’t stand when I’m sitting at a traffic light and people are making turns in front of me and they start peering into my car to check me out. Do I have something hanging out of my nose? This bothers me beyond belief. Keep your eyes on the road and out of my car. It’s like an invasion of privacy. I have no care at all about the other drivers on the road. The only time I care whose in the car is when I see them do something stupid like cut someone off or drive over the median, and then I’ll racially profile them. This warrant a drive up to check out to see if my accusastions are correct. Or if I think the girl could be a hottie then I’ll take a look. Problem is there isn’t much to do even if she is attractive. It’s tough to start a conversation. I could do a stupid wave. Or I could show how much of a badass I am by speeding by, but that only leaves me by myself 100 yards ahead of where I want to be. Bottom line, keep your eyes outta my car.

I see people walking all the time when they are “exercising”. Maybe this is all they can muster up, a slow walk. I don’t considering walking exercise. If I walk a golf course, then maybe, just maybe, am I getting any so called exercise. That’s probably about 4-5 miles of walking. If it’s too hard to jog, try power walking. Anything that actually makes you make an attempt at trying. Our society has gotten so lazy that it doesn’t surprise me shit has hit the fan with the whole economic situation. Everyone is looking for shortcuts. Or ways to get by without doing shit. The slothfulness of people is just getting worse with each generation. I have no heart for people who give no effort and ask the questions “why aren’t things the way I think they should be?”

The blame game pisses me off. Nowadays people don’t take responsibility. In my business there is no hiding behind other people. If something goes wrong, there aren’t a lot of people to pin the blame on. When I fuck up, I man up. These are important characteristics to have. The ability to make a decision, followed by the ability to say you were wrong. Blaming other people and making excuses for when things go wrong is a pussy’s mentality. I’m going to call out my roommate as an example but I don’t think he’ll mind. I’ll say, “can you get us a case of water tomorrow.” He replies, “sure thing.” I come home the next day, “where’s the fucking water?” “TC, I had to go to work early and then JP had me on a top secret project and I got stuck in traffic so I couldn’t stop to get it.” Bullshit. You’re telling me you didn’t have 3 minutes in your day to stop by a CVS and buy a case of water. Don’t take it personal Wagon.

I hate this fucking chair. The thing creaks whenever I lean back. I want to throw this piece of shit across the room just to shut it up. It actually affects my state of mind knowing that I have to sit perfectly still just so the chair doesn’t making any goddamn noise. This is my biggest concern. I don’t mind people have swine flu, the gov’t wastes the tax payer money, or that North Korea wants to blow the shit out of us. I’m considering just spending a k on a new chair just to avoid this issue with a hundred dollar pos.

Does the average person have these same thoughts? Sometimes I think people get so wrapped up in everyday nonsenses that they don’t care about the stuff that’s really important like using the term really or what chair they sit in. These are the things that matter. These are the things that we deal with day after day.

Business trip with JC

One Wed and Thurs I went down to the Baltimore, DC, and Virginia area for a business trip with my dad. I will be referring to my dad as JC for the rest of the story. My dad is an interesting person and in this post I am not making fun of him, only making fun of the situations he gets himself into. If you read this and you are friends with him I prefer you not to tell him about this post because it could make him self conscience (doubtful) and not act like his normal self.

I wake up at 5:30 on Wednesday. JC has been up since 4. I packed the night before. I brought two dress shirts, two pair of pants, two shoes, and a pair of casual clothes. I shower and am dressed and ready to go by about 6am. JC comes down with 2 sport coats, 4 dress shirts, 4 polos, 3 pairs of pants and is flipping out that he hadn’t had the chance to try on all his clothes to make sure they fit. We end up getting out of the house by 6:30.

I drove and JC is the ultimate passenger driver. If I’m in the wrong lane he’ll be sure to ask me why am I not in the fast lane. I have a theory that the left lane is always the fastest in tight traffic. There is no point to switch lanes, just ride the left. JC loves the Waffle House. He knows of this obscure one off some random exit that we go to. It’s not bad, but I think it’s incredibly unhealthy (not that I really care). We get to our first stop and I pass it on the opposite side of the road so JC suggests a U-turn. I come to the first spot with a sign that specifically says no U-Turns. I do it at the request of JC and literally there’s a cop at the top of the hill immediately after I do it. We luckily escape and he tells me that I have to watch for cops, yeah thanks JC. At one point we came to a fork in the road I was like, “JC, which way?” He’s in the passenger seat and points to a direction. Considering i’m driving I’m not looking over to see where he’s pointing and from my angle it looks like he’s pointing perfectly straight. So I start telling him just say left or right and stop pointing like a tard. After that little rift we moved on.

We make a couple more stops and then it’s time for lunch. JC loves diners so we go to another one of his hotspots. He isn’t the sharpest person at times and leaves his glasses at one of the stops but thankfully remembers at the last moment. At the very next stop he ends up leaving his briefcase in the person’s office so the guy ends up delivering to our hotel which was lucky. He was freaking out at one point because his pants were too long and he ended up stepping on some gum and it got on the pant leg. So after he was done complaining about the tailor we finished the day. I went running in Rockville which is just super highway galore so it wasn’t very fun. Our day ended with us going to another diner. A hilarious thing he does when he’s eating and talking at the same time is that he uses hand gestures. It always seems that he has this glass with a ton of liquid in it and he starts waving his hands frantically when he’s talking. I just sit there watching, thinking if I should tell him to be careful. On one hand i’m hoping he knocks the glass over just so that it will teach him a lesson. On the other I’m not looking forward to the mess it will make. The glass escaped unharmed this time though.

We wake up the next morning and we check out and get on the road. We go to another waffle house. After getting on the highway, I’m about to merge and JC just took a swig of mouthwash. He puts his window down and then starts spazzing out telling me to pull over to the shoulder. I’m like what the fuck is wrong, are you having a heart attack. He ends up opening the door and spitting out the mouthwash. He tells me that he was chewing a wad of gum and it would have been a problem if he spit it out the window. Moving on. There is a customer in Vienna who is a very unique person. Years ago he told my dad that he looked like the 2nd baseman for the Orioles. So we go into the store and there is some usual banter and the guy says to my dad, “you know who you look like, Chase Utley. No, No wait a second you have a real big nose, you look more like Ryan Howard. At this point I can barely control myself from laughing but the guy was a bit out there. We leave that stop and go to eat at yet another diner.

His final hurrah came on our way home when we stopped at a dairy queen. I get an oreo blizzard and order him a banana creme blizzard. After I order he decides he’s hungry (2 hours after just eating) and orders a quarter pounder and a water. It costs $4.28. We leave the DQ and he wants to eat in the car. About a quarter mile down the road he realizes he forgot the water. Then he looks at the burger, takes one bite, and says “this isn’t for me.” I’m thinking “wow, nice way to spend $4.28.

He’s not the easiest traveling partner but he does a good job as a salesman. I had a good time on the trip and we didn’t blank so it was worth it. I’m sure everyone thinks their dad is a bit quirky from time to time but these are first hand experiences of some unusual occurrences. He certainly has some unique qualities but I’m happy he’s my dad.

Likable or not?

I’m going to write some things that will let you know how to be likable or if you do some of these other things why people probably don’t like you. If you read this and think I’m specifically referring to you, you are wrong. There is no one I’m specifically attacking just general thoughts. Also, this more so refers to random people liking you opposed to people you see all the time who probably stopped liking you a while ago but are too afraid to admit it.

Say thank you. I really believe polite manners are important to people liking you. If you go out to eat and the waitress gives you a drink or your food, smile and say thank you. It shows you appreciate it and don’t think of yourself as the almighty. When I’m driving and I let someone in front of me and they give a wave of gratitude, I immediately feel ok about letting them take my spot. I sincerely hate letting people in ahead of me but as long as they appreciate it, I’m ok with it. This shows that your not self absorbed and have the ability to interact with everyday people you encounter. Fuckers that ride the empty lane to cut in at the last second should get an immediate kidney stone. Don’t let them in or else you are a pushover pansy momma’s boy.

Don’t brag about money. I sometimes fall in this category. If the market has a good day and someone is talking to me about stocks I may say yeah I made this much off of this and this and this. This is completely stupid and makes you come off as a douchebag. Everyone’s financial situation differs and it’s better left on the sidelines. If you are good person and treat people with respect, I could care less if you have one penny to your name. Gloating about money makes you come off as an asshole. Unless someone specifically asks. For instance, I just go to AC someone asks me how I did, I say I came back with a nice chunk of change of the Borgata’s money (yeah right) and they ask how much. Since they asked you can tell them but coming out and blurting out looks bad. You don’t need money to be happy but the constant struggle to obtain it gets in the way of that. Sometimes I wish I could just move to Oregon and be a lumberjack and get drunk every night and then be outside and cut trees everyday. My dad actually did this and I assume it gets old fast.

No mooching. You have to take care of yourself and not mooch off of others. There’s a line of giving and taking. As long as you are giving, it’s fine to be taking. You can’t nickel and dime everything, it’s too cumbersome and way to nit picky. If I lend you cash for a meal because you are out and then you buy beer for the night, whether it’s a couple of bucks here or there, no big deal. This is a hard subject to judge because everyone always remembers when they spent that cash for the goods but not always when it was they other way around. My favorite mooch is going to a bar and buying the first round for everyone. Once you’ve established you bought drinks for everyone it’s only natural people return the favor long lasting into the night. Girls I feel like don’t have to worry about this as guys will do anything to get into their pants as the night wears on.

Talking to people you don’t know is an easy way to find out if you are good at conversation. Generally after a few drinks I’m better at this subject but still have to talk to randoms, sober, at work every single day. The key to getting someone to like you is to relate to the person. Don’t talk about things you like, find out what they like to do. I used to use “do you like what your doing.” This works better on professionals rather than students, but it all works. Most people would answer yes and then this is the perfect spot to grill them. What do you do, what aspects do you like, what do you really want to do. I actually like asking questions learning about new people. Why the hell would I want to talk about myself to someone else, I already know everything about me. If you actually care and are a good listener this makes people remember you and like you. However, you have to be careful when using this with randoms. I would say that when I’m sober I can talk to either a person I haven’t seen in a while or a random person for a maximum of 4 minutes. After that I run out of stuff to talk about. How’s life, where are you working, have you seen so and so. If the persons answers don’t offer follow up questions, I’m cooked. Then you have to use the, “it was good seeing you, my friends are over there, or I need to use the bathroom to get away.” When I’m drinking I can last longer in conversation because I think of stupider things to say and am entertained by practically anything. If you have good opening questions to ask people, I’m all ears.

My biggest problem with the art of conversation is that sometimes I get too fucked up and even though I’m hammered I can still blabber my mouth off. This leads to me talking to people about things that when I’m sober I’ll ask them the same stuff and I come off as a complete retard. That’s another thing. Coming off as honest is an important trait. This Saturday this guy comes up to me and says “Tom, good to see you.” I shake his hand, give him a blank stare and say “how do I know you again?” He’s like dude I’ve met you like 5 times. Bad intro but I come off saying “I must have been wasted every time, however I’m relatively sober now and I promise the next time I see you I’ll remember your name. People respect honesty. If you ever find yourself in a bind the best way out of it is honesty. Tell people how you feel upfront and they can’t get mad. Well they can get mad but at least they will respect the truth. Being a weasel is how you get into trouble. Only other weasels are friends with weasels.

Complements are good ice breakers. People like to know that other people think that something they do or buy is good. Someone said to me “I like your shoes.” I’m like what the fuck holy hell someone likes these old piece of garbage nikes that i’ve had for 6 months, what are they fucking nuts. But it still makes you feel like at least someone likes my decision picking on shoes. I like to go with really obscure complements, they seem to stick better with people because it shoes your attention to detail. Like those glasses are awesome, or that dress is really pretty. I only complement girls by the way because if you complement the opposite sex you can come off like a queer. I’m not even sure a no homo detracts the gayness of the comment. However I believe shoes and hats are ok to complement but not clothing or looks for guys. Now anytime I’ve complemented someone on something in the past they are going to think that I was completely full of shit but I generally if I say it I mean it so don’t look to far into it.

What I’ve just wrote about is pretty much what I’ve come to learn about socializing and surviving in society without coming off as a stuck up, fuck up. I’m not anxious about sharing this because now anytime someone who has read this comes to talk to me its going to be a big event and people aren’t going to act like themselves because they think I have these mighty standards of fitting in. That’s not really it at all. I’m just sharing with you how I behave. You don’t have to behave like me. You don’t want to behave like me. I’ve fucked up so many situations and been in so many fucked up situations that you probably should read this and do the exact opposite of everything I’ve wrote. I just don’t take life that seriously and these are just funny circumstances that arise day to day. I’m sure if I worked in the corporate world and had interaction daily with the people of the world I could write for hours about what irks me. For now this will have to do.

Television

I’m watching 3 shows right now that I find entertaining. True Blood, Daisy of Love, and Weeds. I’ll start with the good, the bad, and then the ugly.

True Blood is an awesome show. 3 episodes in and I’m excited for next week. They leave a cliffhanger at the end of each episode which I think is fine. Some people probably flip out at the end of every episode but I think they are just doing a great job luring the viewers back. They’ve been showing Sookie’s boobs alot which I’m over. Tara and the ripped bro are really annoying. Sam and the crazy witch bitch’s relationship is heading somewhere. Jessica as a vamp kind of pisses me off because she looks so weird that I want to dislike her but for some reason her ability to do impulsive crazy shit is ok for me. Bill doesn’t really bother me and Eric is turning into the fucking man. Jason Stackhouse is gonna bone the wife eventually and even though I think his part is pretty lame so far, they are setting something up. This wouldn’t be a show I would usually like but I’m entertained by people having super abilities and HBO is just coming through with a fine series in my opinion.

Weed’s is the bad. I’m not really sure what happened. I’ll still watch it but for some reason the show just lost the allure. Maybe because it seems like “been there done that”. None of the characters really even get on my nerves either. I could do without Celia but I think Nancy is a good actress. Shane is retarded now but I can even tolerate him. Andy’s character seems repetitive and Silas and Doug keep up some funny banter. I’m probably being overly critical because I will tune in next week but I just think the show’s seen better days.

Daisy of Love is the ugly. Specifically Daisy is the ugly. These guys aren’t getting a prize. They are getting a washed up, enhanced stripper, whose face is just deceiving whether it looks good or not. Don’t get me wrong, I think the show is great and she plays the part fine. I know it’s ridiculous but the way these characters interact with eachother and the stupid shit they do, really make entertaining TV. Plus VH1 uses dopey music for some characters and they do a good job of pointing out the craziness of certain situations. The dude ChiChi on the show was the biggest pussy i’ve ever seen. The driving seen was retarded in the last episode. I don’t really feel manly watching this show but I find it entertaining.

Couple of Tidbits

Read all 4 pages, won’t take long and pretty much explains why everyone thinks MJ was sick. I like how he was a total freak when he was alive but now that he’s dead the press turns him into a hero. I respect his music, not him.

New song that is playing on Alt Nation, I think it’s pretty good.

And 1901 by Phoenix is another good track out.

“blogging”

I don’t have a blog. I’m embarrassed when people will be like “oh you blog.” If someone came to me and said read my blog, “I’d be like no way, blogs are for fags.” You certainly can call this a blog if you wish but that doesn’t mean I will. I like to think of it as giving the public the insight of a 25 year old binge drinker who attempts to balance living a healthy lifestyle during the week and a drunk on the weekends. I keep this site to try to give some amusement to anyone who decides to read.

I’m going to use this next paragraph to describe my take on life. Today is the first day back to work for me after taking all of last week off. I haven’t worked in about 11 days give or take. You can do that when you are self employed. However, when you aren’t working, you aren’t making money. There is no paid vacation. There were many nights (all but 2) in those 11 days where I drank a shitload and partied too hard. This does not equate to good living. This makes my body angry and each morning you pay the price with a headache and a nasty dump. In no way whatsoever do I like this feeling. So why do it then? Life is too boring and too short not to. I know every person is different and I’m not calling anyone out but my idea of a good time isn’t watching movies on a Saturday night. Good stories are generally produced from too much alcohol.

I went to AC on Thursday night by myself to play poker. I sat there for 5 hours, won 52 bucks, spent 5 on a Power sobe and a bag of peanut m & m’s and 5 on parking and I walked away with a net gain of 42 dollars. I drank about 6 beers over this period, not many, and then went home. I wasn’t drunk and I stayed clear of every table game on the way out. Did I just have fun? Honestly, I don’t even know. Not doing any “real” gambling wasn’t much fun. I can’t have fun going out with no drinks in me. I can’t remember the fun if I have too much to drink and then I have to regret doing the fun things the next day. It’s a tough spot to manage.

I think what’s happening is I’ve come to a point in my life where it’s finally time to grow up and just be responsible. I’ve been getting wasted literally almost every weekend for the past 8 years. I’m not going to give up drinking. I don’t consider myself an alcoholic because I don’t need alcohol and I’m able to work the business and I keep myself in better physical shape than most. After you go through a “vacation” like I just went through, you just have to take a step back and reevaluate the situation. This is day 1 of getting back into regular me mode. I think you’ll notice that my posts will improve as the week goes on and I get more and more detoxed from these past days.

My phone is in working order again after I ran it through the washing machine. I got a new one because of my insurance and I was pretty impressed with the speed of the insurance company. Definitely worth the 8 bucks a month.

This week is a run everyday sort of week to lose the love handles that I put on by drinking too much beer. I honestly believe that running is the only way to get rid of love handles. Eating too much bad shit gives you a gut, but beer gives you love handles. Have to stay active, Phils 5k is coming up.

Shore

I’m going to try to cram as much as I can remember into one post documenting the last couple days.

I left on Thursday to go to one of our old neighbors 80th birthday party at the White Briar in Avalon. He has this party every 5 years so it doesn’t come around all that often. Drinks were flowing and everyone had a good time. The waiter took the liberty of spilling a wine glass on myself and the guy next to me. Now I smelled like Zinfandel but wasn’t going to let that deter me from enjoying the night. After the party I went to Sea Isle to hang with some people that I don’t see too often anymore but we usually have a good time getting bombed together. We went to OD in Sea Isle where I somehow met this girl that got with a guy that I was staying with for the night. I was running some decent drunk game and was able to get some smooches but that was pretty much the extent. We swapped numbers which was a mistake on her part as I drunk texted some probably questionably inappropriate messages later in the week. She was a nice girl but that’s all she wrote and if I never see her again I won’t be shedding a tear.

On Friday I woke up and started throwing some beers back. Bought some cigars and scotch and pretty much wasted the day away. I had to go back home though because I had to attend a wedding for my dad’s brother’s daughter. The wedding was fine and the receptionist was at a nice place in Chalfont? called nostalgia. My 2 brothers and my sister were seated a table where a friend of the bride was telling us how she has gay mallard ducks in here yard. Apparently 20 percent of mallard ducks are gay, who knew?

We left the wedding and headed back down the shore. We went to the Princeton in Avalon which turned out to be interesting to say the least. One of my friends wanted me to go talk to this older woman (45 or so but had a really nice body). So I do and throw some game. After a while I can’t really see where this was headed and decided to try to find someone who wasn’t twice my age. Nothing else to eventful occurred until we go back to our house and my friend decided it was a good idea to bring the cougar back to the house. She was a nice but started asking me what I thought about the Iranian Gov’t issues and I pretty much had had enough.

My one friend started to like this one girl while we were down there and we hung out with her the next night. This was Sunday night and nothing was really happening so we went to the Princeton again but it isn’t exciting on Sundays. Monday we went to the Windrift on 80th or so and it was pretty average. I got bombed off of a 6 pack of riverhorse beer which I tried. It was 6.5 % alcohol which got me buzzed. Then I started drinking some coors lights and then a cup of Red Delicious boxed wine. Then at the Windrift they had Corona ponies which I drank like 10 of and also a shot of Jameson and a Yuengling. So I’m pretty wasted and we go over to the neighbors house and they proceed to kick me out because I was being my usual jovial self and this one girl wasn’t digging it. So she started freaking out and that finished the night.

Tuesday night was the Wagon’s birthday. He said he was going to get wasted but didn’t even close to live up to the hype. I bought him a shot of Patron, that he said he didn’t want, and he proceeded to take the shot and then puke it up in a cup immediately after. From here on out I won’t be buying him anymore shots. Nothing else too eventful happened (that I remember) that night but I woke up feeling awful. After 5 nights of heavy drinking I had had enough. I went home last night to play in our bball game which was canceled and had my first sober night in a while. I’m at work right now taking care of some things but will be heading back down the shore to play some poker at the Borgata. That’s where I’m at right now and am looking forward to the next couple nights.

Also, I ran my Blackberry Storm through the wash so if you’ve called me and I haven’t picked up, that could be the reason. I didn’t proof read this either so there could be many errors.

Vacation

I’m leaving for the shore today and then returning on Sat for a wedding. After the wedding I’m heading back down again that night and then staying there all week. It’ll be nice not having to work for a week. My goal is to balance getting wasted and staying in running shape but the former usually hinders the latter.

Also we played Monopoly last night and I want to give the in’s and out’s to certain deals. I was able to obtain 2 red’s and 200 dollars for my 1 purple. Granted if gave the opponent a monopoly but it also gave me a red monopoly. This deal has to be so heavily favored in my direction it’s ridiculous. However, he was able to put instant hotels on his properties and they turned into magnets. I landed on them once and next thing you know I’m cash strapped with an expensive monopoly that I can’t build on. Once again Evan and I got properties each other needed and once again we are both to stubborn to trade with each other. I had both yellows and park place and he had one yellow and boardwalk. I wanted the yellow and he wanted to trade straight up yellow for park place. Considering I already had a monopoly and he didn’t I wasn’t doing it. I wanted him to throw in a specified amount of money. Well naturally he wanted me to throw in a specified amount of money for the deal. My argument is that bw and pp are the best properties in the game and his argument is that i’m getting 3 spaces and he will only have 2. So naturally we sit there turn after turn unable to come to anything until it’s too late and both of us go bk. Just as I ended my scattergories career i’m considering the same with Monopoly. I think the trading aspect of the game is fun but the luck portion makes it tough to win sometimes.

That’s it on my end.

Formal McGrath Challenge

I’m using this blog as a formal invitation to Ian and Steve Mcgrath. The McGraths believe they can beat my brother (sam) and I in 2v2 bball. I would like to set up a best of 3 series up to either 11 or 21 (1’s to 11 or 1’s and 2’s to 21). I will accept bets from either McGrath up to 20 dollars and wagers from any other party up to a maximum of 100 dollars (total not each person). Understand I’m playing with my brother who was a 2 quarter intramural player his entire career. He may have improved, I’m not really sure. I can already envision Big Steve banking in 3’s saying how he meant to do that. I’m confident in this challenge and even though we give up size, which is big in smaller games, I believe we will prevail. I just want to make mention if Big Steve crosses the 20 foul limit in the game, it’s a forfeit. For what it’s worth, I will also play for a case of beer of the winner’s choice and then drink it afterward.

Another McGrath challenge. Ian, I whooped you in Phil’s 5k last year. I really don’t see any reason why I won’t again. You ran all year long and your still gonna get a good view of my back as I cross the finish line. The one year I challenged Jeff to see who would win and the loser had to shave his head. Naturally I dominated and he pussed out of the bet. I’m sure if he could go back in time he would have manned up as he will always have to live with wimping out of a bet. Nevertheless, I will think of something in the next coming days to race for. This obviously not smart by me as I’m motivating you but I really don’t think it will matter. I just ran a sub 5 mile in regular shoes and fair weather by myself on the track. And don’t forget my 60:17 time in the Broad Street this past May. You may think I’m being childish challenging a high school kid but if what fun is it if you don’t compete for something?

Finally, I will issue a 3rd challenge which I’m not as confident in but will issue it anyway. My brother (jeff) and I will challenge Steve and Ed (sr or jr) to a case race. I’ve seen Steve and Ed in action and no they are no slouches but I think we have what it takes. I will accept no bets but just the bragging rights to the better drinking family.

That is all that I have. I know they are down the shore and probably won’t read this so if someone does read this and will see them, send them this link. Hopefully we can make this happen before Steve goes back to school. I plan on seeing him this Thursday if all else fails.

Random Shit

Evan has mentioned this before but I see it time and time again and it is mind boggling. I saw two car accidents on the way to work today. One live and the other’s aftermath. When you see someone get into a car accident the instinct is to look and see what happened. When you do this you completely fuck up traffic. I literally saw a bro with his head out the window, 180 degrees, looking at some swirling police lights and a car underneath someones bumper. I don’t get the fascination with accidents. It’s one thing if you see it happen to stop and make sure everyone is OK. It’s another to become wildly engrossed in the accident that you forget you are driving and create another retarded accident. To top it off, police do idiotic things in handling accidents. It will be a 2 lanes and rather than move the accident somewhere off road or something they will completely block traffic. Then you can’t flip them off or yell at them because they are the police.

If you go to the gym, seriously, put on deodorant. I went yesterday because it was raining out and there was only one treadmill open and as I walked behind the person to get on it, there was this stench of completely foul BO. I was tearing up using the machine. I’m glad it’s summer now because I hate going to the gym because of all the stupid characters there. There are meat heads, chatty kathy’s, and can’t forget there’s that one girl who I know, but hate, but she thinks we’re friends so I have to spend my whole time staying to the complete opposite side of the gym to avoid her at all costs because saying hello would make her think we’re friends.

I watched Jerry McGuire, Cape Fear, and Point Break recently. I’ll give mini reviews if you care. It was the first time I’d seen Jerry. I thought Laurel’s character was really good. Renee didn’t bother me at all and I thought Tom Cruise was decent. Overall I liked the movie and the end was a poignant scene that almost brought a tear.

Cape Fear was entertaining. I’m not sure why Robert DeNiero can take lead pipes all over and not feel it. Juliette Lewis was such an idiot that I was hoping she’d get it by the end. The mom wasn’t that hot but I thought Nick Nolte was pretty good. Nothing amazing but decent movie.

Point Break was entertaining but unrealistic. For being made in 1991 I think they did a really good job. Keanu is an emotionless tool but he didn’t bother me too much. I hate Lori Petty and Patrick Swayze I thought played the part well. Towards the end it just got stupid but I thought it was OK for most of it. I thought the same thing about Taken. It was good for an hour and then when it came time to wrap it up it just got way out of hand. Why are they tying Liam up around a pipe that he can easily break?

If you haven’t seen any of the movies I don’t really recommend any of them but they just seemed like movies that you should see to be part of society.
