Bets

I’ve been on a bit of hot streak of late hitting the Monday Night Game (Bucs), the Thursday Night Game (Bolts), and a win on Alabama yesterday. This puts me at:
NFL: 11-10, +8 units, CFB: 4-5, +.7 units, MLB: 1-2, -4 units, EPL: 0-1, -1.5 units
I am now down 6.5 units on the season when the juice is included.

Dolphins +8, 4 units – I ask myself what game do I think is the most obvious to be an easy win and land on this one. No one in their right mind should think that the Dolphins can cover 8 points against the Steelers. They got shit on by the Titans last week with Ryan Tannehill looking like he forgot what a QB was supposed to do. The Steelers put a beat down on the Jets looking like an offensive juggernaut and this will stick in people’s minds. This is not a bet for the feint of heart. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a back door cover or an outright win from the Dolphins. I only know everyone and their mother will pick the Steelers in this game. When they zig, you zag.

PIMP

Cowboys +4.5, 4 units – Evan Silva thinks they can win outright which means that 4.5 should be plenty. The Packers at Lambeau are definitely a force to be reckoned with so I’m not saying this is a sure thing by any means. They tend to be over hyped though and the Cowboys are proving they should be taken seriously. I don’t think they will win, but I expect the game to be close.

DraftKings

The money has been pouring in as I would hope I’m gaining some credibility. Some plays I’ve been touting are Chris Conley and Mike Wallace as cheap options. There are so many good players this week that I don’t think there are any guarantees. I’m also implementing the dual TE in a lot of lineups with Graham and Gronk. In options where I decided to choose the cheapest TE, I went with CJ Uzomah who I know is a long shot but I think he’s got a high floor and at $2,500, I like his upside. The Raiders-Chiefs should be high scoring and everyone else thinks the Panthers-Saints matchup will provide a load of points so I could get hurt if it does with not much exposure. I’m riding J Howard again which I know gets riskier each week he plays well, but the Bears have no other option. Same thing with Carlos Hyde. LeVeon Bell is also a must play if possible.

Fantasy

Wild Turkeys – The Turkeys are 2-3 and looking like the team that they should be after a good draft. I’m projected with the highest points total (again) at 122 and my opponent is slated for 94 with 2 of his players already going. No real lineup considerations other than Andy Dalton over Eli and Ryan Mathews over Tate. I like my chances. 2nd highest point total and 2nd most against as well.

Big Johnson’s – Sitting in 1st place with the most total points scored and the least total points against, it’s shaping up to be a bloodbath for the rest of the league. Not my highest projection at 95 but my opponent has already played a man and is at 87 so once again, I like my spot. Rolling out an Alex Smith to Maclin stack, I’m crossing my fingers. I played Charles Clay instead of Jordan Reed.

Jameis Has Crabs – A disturbing 3-2 with a loss by 1.1 and .3 but easily the best team in the league. It sounds like I’m bragging but I have the most points scored in the league and have the 2nd most scored against me. I could be 5-0 and I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m playing Big Steve and am projected to beat him by 7. I had to play Tyrod which I don’t love and Uzomah for Reed. No other concerns.

I know my loyal readers don’t get to see some of the comments that come in on prior posts and they always seem to leave me wondering. Here are two of the most recent ones.

Context: About 18 months ago Kendra Sunderland had a video of her playing with herself in a University Library. I was tracking the increase of her popularity with the idea that it would bring in viewers to my website. She has since entered the hardcore porn world and was recently on Howard Stern to promote herself. Some guy commented this on my website.

I am trying to follow Kendra Sunderland, on some communication E mail, Twitter or any way to find out when she will be the Featured Porn Star performer at a Strip club, Gentlemen’s Club, Exotic Dance club, in these 2 states Oregon and Washington. I prefer to watch her performance in Salem Oregon where she was born. Can you tell me the next date and time and place she will be in Oregon? Tom can you tell me how to find Kendra Sunderland’s schedule for the Pacific Northwest.

This guy should be red flagged as a potential stalker and full blown retard. She favorited my tweet. She doesn’t talk to me. She doesn’t have my number. She doesn’t know I exist. How the hell would I ever contact her?

Context: If you look on the right hand side of my page you’ll see the top 5 posts. These are chosen by which pages get the most visits on that day. They are always the same ones with Madison Ivy, Claire Abbot, Brandi Passante, and Ally Lyons.

Some guys stumbles on the website and uses it as his own humble brag. This is the post he is referring to.

Pretty interesting post, I don’t even read blogs, but for some reason I typed into google when did madison ivy get a boob job, and your article on her popped up. And then i saw your article on the “jersey” strike, and now this one. i’ve never seen a blog cover bowling with these interesting stories, so good job as an avid bowler I found them really interesting. And for this season I started off with a 205 average for the first couple months (although I’ve hit a serious slump over the past two weeks now), but have never bowled a 300. I’ve gotten 11 in a game multiple times, even the back 11, but never 12. Our house’s pattern is pretty tough though. To put it in perspective, I ended last season with about a 190 average, and then for sweeps in vegas I shot a 736, so i definitely think the house has something to do with it

Vikings D is legit

Bets

1-2-1 for -2 units for the week. My teaser was off as I picked 3 teams winning outright and 2 getting blown out. Vikings are legit as expected and the Rams offense is too difficult to trust. No real harm done though. -12 on the season.

Draftkings

Another really solid week which is nice to turn in. I entered $119 and took out $225. This is a +106 week adding to the +29 season total for a +135. Combine that with the bets, and I’m virtually even through 5 weeks.

I’ve started to utilize a non-sheeple approach and instead of using the advice of the “pros”, I’ve been combining that with my own intuition. Not going below 158 for a lineup will probably be the best I have all year. I had TY Hilton in 5 of 7 lineups and sprinkled in some Sammie Coates and B Marsh which was really solid. I made a few mistakes this week (Zach Ertz, Terrelle Pryor, Isiah Crowell, Robert Woods) which never had me really firing on all cylinders but I was good enough for the leagues I was in. I made a great play removing Steve Smith from all lineups after the wind talk and also fading Legarrette Blount. I missed cashing in the Million by .3 points on the 2nd lineup which sucked because it would have added another 30 bucks.

Fantasy Football

Wild Turkeys – Playing my little brother and it’s looking the big brother is showing his strength. I made a mistake playing Golden Tate over Ryan Mathews but unless Graham Gano outscores Greg Olsen by 8 points, this is a W. 2-3 ain’t bad.
Big Johnsons – Big blunder playing Rashad Jennings over Theo Riddick (complete oversight) but it didn’t matter as my opponent didn’t even set his lineup and only scored 61 pts as I put up 109 with Theo Riddick on the bench. Moving to 4-1.
Jameis Has Crabs – A potential loss if Kelvin Benjamin puts up more than 9 points. I scored 113 and had my most optimal lineup so I can’t really feel bad if I lose. 3-2 most likely but 4-1 is possible.

Pigskin Pick em

A 4 spot going into the Monday night game is not good. In fact it’s horrible. I was all over the place with my picks and have fallen back to 3rd place and back 6 games which is a decent amount.

I’m in 2nd place in the Softerware pool but back 4 games.

Bets

Houston, we have a problem. I was up 3.3 units the last time I updated. I am now down -10. A 4 unit Giants bet went south and then I put 4 units on the Baltimore Orioles. This left me with an AI 6 unit plunge on Madison Bumgardner and I was rejuvenated. However this was not to last after a 5 unit 49ers bet, followed by a 5 unit San Francisco Giants bet. I had to re-deposit 10 unit back into the account. Current record: NFL – 9-10, +1 unit, CFB 3-5 -2 units, MLB 1-2 -4 units. With the juice It adds up to -10. From the record, please don’t follow my picks, just know what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.

1pm Teaser – 2 units to win 6.5 – I’m adding points to all the teams getting nice point totals and hoping they don’t get blown out. This is the Lions +11, Browns +18, Redskins +11, Titans +10.5, Jets +16. Adding points to the home teams seems pretty obvious to me with the Browns and Lions. The Skins, Jets, and Titans games just feel like they will be close to me.

Vikings -7 – 4 units – I tend follow what happens a bit too closely perhaps but the Vikings defense seems other worldly. They shut down OBJ and Eli looked like a college QB. Take that thought that defense wins games and I’m not worried that much about Bradford and the rest of the shaky offense. Houston looked god awful against the Patriots and have beat some mediocre teams to be 3-1 (Bears, Titans, and the questionable Chiefs). Call me the public on this one.

Rams +2 – 4 units – I love, love, love the Rams defense. I can’t stress that enough because Aaron Donald is the best DL in the league and their secondary is legit. Sure Case Keenum is a goof but Gurley will get back on track. To add that they are getting 2 points at home. Back up the truck.

DraftKings

After a nice DraftKings week last week I set myself up with a little more ammo for this week. I was really big on Steve Smith until these winds started popping up. I also think it’s ludicrous not to have LeVeon Bell in your lineup. I got him in 3 of the 6 but he’s an expensive guy and there are a ton of other possibilities. I’ve targeted OBJ, TY Hilton, and Brandon Marshall as all having big weeks. In the TE spot I think it’s either Zach Ertz or Zach Miller. Vikings, Rams, or Pats D.

Fantasy Football

Wild Turkeys – In a must need week against little bro, the Turkeys got a boost start from DJ’s 32 points. Tough decision on Ryan Mathews or Golden Tate but I think I’ll be hoping for a Golden bounce back. Sam is rolling out a lineup that looks like my DK team with OBJ and B Marsh. This one may get close.

Big Johnson’s – Also getting the big game from DJ but I blew it with a John Brown play. I should have realized that without Carson playing, his 14 targets the prior week meant nothing. I’m projected to win but my opponent has an empty roster spot. Let’s see if he fills it in within the next 2+ hours.

Jameis Has Crabs – Just a really strong team with Freeman, McCoy, Matthews, Crabtree, Reed, and Jordan Howard. I do not see a loss this week up against a Carson Wentz led team.

It’s one thing to be paid to write an article about Barstool and it’s another to have been following it for years and write about the changes taking place. Here’s what I’ve noticed:

  A Case of Eye Herpes

  There are more comments in the comment section and they are getting more upvotes – I like to pay attention to what writers get the most comments. Big Pres articles would get over 100. Shitty writers will get around 10. Pres’s recent post about his eye herpes received 118 and the top comment, “The 80 mg of adderal xr everyday can’t be helping” received 379 upvotes. These are huge increases from past months which means the growth from corporate dollars is happening.

• More money leads to more eyeballs –When Portnoy showed his video of watching KFC’s heart get ripped out ala Ralph Wiggum, there were over 240k people watching. That number seems huge to me because it’s only a live feed of “couch” Clancy watching a baseball game.
• Traffic is Up – In the last 5 years the site has grown from 1.4 million unique readers monthly to 8 million as of January, and was reportedly valued at $10 million to $15 million in the stake sale. I’m curious to see their visitors over the past month. This also means that every monthly viewer is worth .12 cents. Rnningfool.com is worth $360 dollars.
• Who listens to these Podcasts? There’s Pardon My Take. The Rundown. KFC Radio. Mailtime. I certainly don’t but they seem to be ranking pretty high so people must be. Seems like a waste of time to me.
• One bite. Everyone knows the rules.
• Outdated Posts – Can they please stop with the Wake Up With, Smokeshow of the day, and Guess that… Worst type of posts which have been played out years and years ago.
• Too Many Employees – I’ve stopped caring about most of the writers because there are so many of them.
• Too Much Merch – This is the weirdest piece of merchandise I’ve ever seen.

This is 11 from Stranger Things who is probably 12 years old. Their target audience is males between the ages of 18-35. No 18-35 year old should be wearing a shirt with a 12 year old girl. So, so, so creepy.

Finals Thoughts

I still check it often and read what I want. I care less than I did before because other people are caring more. I see people who never knew Barstool existed posting Barstool Sports videos on Facebook and sort of cringe with how fast they are growing and the mainstream mediums they are reaching. I wish the company as much luck as possible but they are the definition of selling out and these types of situations tend to implode due to greed and egos. We’ll wait and see.

The Sixers pre-season opens tonight against the Boston Celtics and this is not what you want to read about your first round pick.

76ers Outlook

For the 4th straight year the 76ers will be awful. The O/U going into this year was 27 games and that was expecting Ben Simmons to play. Are we down below 20 this year?

The team with 3 first round pick centers? The team with a starting PG, Jerryd Bayless, who will be on his 7th NBA team in 8 years? The team with Dario Saric who averaged 11.7 ppg in a Euro league while shooting 50% from the field against inferior competition? The team where Nik Stauskus and TJ McConnel routinely get minutes?

Moving into year 4 of the tank and this team is still a dumpster fire. I’ve heard the supporters and even they have to be getting nervous at this point with the latest Ben Simmons injury and talk that he would have rather went to LA.

I understand what the Sixers plan was and their hopes that high draft picks would save the franchise. It’s still in the wait and see mode. My main question is how many years do we wait and see before the “process trusters” are going to be waiting a decade and then saying, “see, I told you so, they finally made the playoffs.”

I truly don’t want to be a Sixers hater. I’d like to think I’m not on the band wagon but I’m not a disgusted fan either. I look at the situation as a fan of basketball and write how I see it unfolding. At this point, unless Embiid is a 20/15 guy who can take over games single handed, I guess we’ll be waiting until next year when Ben Simmons decides to, maybe, play for the Sixers.

Bets

I can’t really explain it but I didn’t make a single bet this weekend on Saturday or Sunday. I bet 1.8 units on Washington on Friday night which hit. I was going to bet on Clemson because the Shee told me to on Saturday and just never got around to it. Then on Sunday I woke up at 9:38 which was after my Jags pick and then at a family function which took me past the start of the 1pm games. By the 4pm games I was pretty drunk and didn’t / couldn’t place a bet. As such, I stay at 9-8, +11 units for NFL and 3-5, -2 units for CFB. +3.3 units with the juice.

Draftkings

This was one of those weeks where I wish I had more money in Draftkings. I only entered 4 lineups but they all cashed and I was pretty hot with all my players. My most impressive lineup scored 213.52 pts and would have placed in 142 place out of 256,000 for a $600 cash if it was in the Sunday Million. Instead I had it in a $20, 5 person tourney where I raped Condia. I also placed 582 out of  64k in the $9 Slant which was a 6x cash. This week put me in the black after 4 weeks of the season at +29 dollars after being down 80. Hopefully this will boost my credibility and I can keep the train rolling into next week as I begin to enter more lineups.

Fantasy Football

Wild Turkey’s – The Turkeys can’t catch a break. This is how fantasy football plays out sometimes but I went up a team who rocked me with 142 and my 110 projection isn’t going to get it done. I have a team problem with Willie Snead being hurt, and Alshon and Golden Tate just flat out sucking.  Sitting at 1-3 is not a good look but I’m hoping the luck will turn around.

Big Johnson’s – The Big Johnson’s got a cake match-up with the other team putting up 57 pts. I only needed 95 the team was pretty solid all around to move to 3-1.

Jameis Has Crabs – Acting as the most dominant team in the league for another straight week has me at 3-1.  Benching Forte for Jordan Howard this week is what good GM’s are made of.

Eliminator & PigSkin Pickem

For the 2nd straight year I was eliminated with an Arizona Cardinals pick against the St. Louis Rams. Same exact week, same exact results as last year.

I went 7-7 ATS this week which has me holding on to a 1 point lead over 2nd place. I managed to pick 10 correct in the Softerware Pickem where I am now in 2nd place and 3 behind the leader.
