Here’s a video from Storage Wars of an editing mistake.
Now does this prove that the existence of the show is fake? Not in my book. What do people think happened? That the producers took a shot with boxes stacked up neatly and then ransacked the unit to place some good items. People are sold on the fact that this is what happens in this show. Everything is fixed and the producers set up good items before hand so that the show is more interesting. I have no proof that they don’t do this but I also haven’t seen any proof that they do. My take is that they have a load of footage from various units and we see the best ones. Now what I do find a bit interesting is that sometimes the facility is only auctioning a half dozen units and I’m not really what is being found in other units. The idea that the characters are really actors is absurd. Here’s a video of Dave Hester being a real person.
I would feel like a real dope if the show really was a hoax and set up. It certainly doesn’t feel that way. My main argument regarding these “reality” shows is that these people aren’t that good of actors. They aren’t smart enough to fake these performances. I’ve said this about various shows because Sammie and Ronnie deserve Emmy’s for their performances year after year if it’s all fake. These characters act like they dislike each other and that’s a hard thing to fake so accurately. I have made one conclusion that is truth though. I’m fairly certain Brandi was a stripper in past years. The one episode she says “all we found here were stripper singles,” and most people wouldn’t use that expression without some background. I’ve said before that I really feel like this series only has one strong season because the show will start to compromise it’s integrity during the 2nd season for a variety of reasons discussed here. No matter though, whether it’s real or fake, I still bit so call me part of the dumb masses.
Lol! That’s so funny! I too caught the producer mistake in Santa Ana when Darell wins the locker with the ice cream freezer in it. At first, the boxes were in bad shape before the auction. After the locker was won, the boxes inside were nice and neatly stacked. Wtf. That sucks that the integrity of the show has been compromised. I’ll still watch it though.
The defaulted storage are belong to the Owner of the facility and the managers and the workers have full access to them. Most of the storage are “checked” the weapons and hazardous materials. Now think how much of the hidden treasure left for you ” stupid bidders” after this inspection. The only money makers are auctioneers and owners.
The bidders are not the hunters they are the prey, ill informed, dubbed misguided prey.
Cheers.
completely fake no doubt whatsoever. If you think otherwise go get your head checked you need help, unless you are twelve there is no excuse for being so gullible.
The Only Real Way To Find Out If Its Fake Or Not Is To Attend Auctions Im More Then Sure You’ll Have No Problem Running Into The Crew If Its Real!!!
The show isnt fake. There might be some recreations of actual events to make it more entertaining, but the events are real. They do film thousands of auctions and air only the good ones. While local storage facilities have access to the lockers after an owner stops paying, and before the auction, they are not supposed to touch anything. I have gone to hundreds of these auctions and seen money, guns, gold, etc.. Know a lot of people that make good money reselling this stuff at flea markets, thrift stores, “garage sale” stores and online. You never know what you are going to find, but now that these shows have aired, there are a lot more idiots out there bidding against you. 5 years ago it was much better, with minimal competition.
i like apples and bananas
I like turtles.
I have been buying storage units for over 10 years. Since these shows have started coming on TV, people have been coming out of the woodwork and now it usually costs me more to buy a unit. While these shows are fun to watch, they do not show you what you really have to go thru when you buy a unit. I have bought them with old food, dirty mattresses, and mold in them. You have to get all of this out within 1 to 3 days usually, at least here in my community that is how it is. You have to have a place to take it and go thru, then a place to burn it or dump. When you see the guy throwing boxes and furniture around looking for 1 item that will make him money, it just makes me shake my head. If there is one thing that you might learn from my post, I hope it is this…..look thru every piece of mail or what may seem like old papers. Never assume it’s trash. We have found money in greeting cards, money in boxes that had toys on top, gift cards in old purses, and gold rings in sewing boxes. And I do not mean a few pennies and coins. I have heard these shows first do the auction then do a retake afterwards. Maybe they edit the 2 together to make a show. Real or not real, I don’t know and don’t really care, but I will keep watching. Now as for the other Storage Wars Texas, I think it’s a joke and a bad spin off of the other show. The only way your going to find out about them and see what really goes on, is go to one!
Each team gets a certain amount per episode and a certain amount each week to buy units, the production crew follows them around and when a good unit is found they recreate it and film it.
What baffles me is how someone loses a say 10′ X 10′ which normally costs around $150.00 per month (Average-geography). After 3 months they want to take it because they make more on the auction than the rent. Then when it is supposedly sold on these TV programs for instance, Darrell found $1800.00 in cash. Now $150.00 for 3 months does not equal $1800.00 in anybodies book but Hollywoods. Let’s just say it’s good entertainment. I say the Repo program is a real loser. They even have included a big African American into the picture now. That is, I’ve seen in the ads. I won’t watch it. It’s more fake than wrestling. Think about it.
compltely fake! The most annoying thing to me is not what newbob but another thing:
most of the things out there when evaluated they are evaluated to at least 2-3 times their worth. Any evaluator would evaluate an item at about 60%-75% of their worth, but this ones evaluate to 200%-300% . wtf? Yes I agree people can forget money under an old mattress or in a toy or something, but there are things that you cannot overlook so easilly, like the poker chips or the blue jeans. The only reason you would have those would be to sell them and you would not leave them behind.
You must live in a cave. They arn’t actors???? Check their income tax forms, getting $10,000 for six shows. How about
the phoney placement of items? It has come from the old days of salting mines for sucker buyers. Stick to wrestling.
The show is 100% fake. Whoever heard of auctions that were limited to just a few people and always the same few people? Why is there never an ordinary person who wants to bid? Why are there always on every show hidden treasures? When a storage locker is auctioned off, it goes against what the owner owes, If the auctioneer only allows his friends to bid, it’s fraud against the owner.
