I’ll also add that the team won more than 29 games in a row because we played in a few tournaments that I’m sure we won flawlessly during that stretch.

That was a great post. I personally like the GIFs…the kid dancing has me laughing nonstop, and the wiffle ball moonshot is awesome. By the way, is it possible that #13 in that first pic is CK13?

This was a good read. I didn’t remember some of this, and don’t remember much more. I think in that first play-off game against Lower South, Jon Isaacs hit a grand slam, our first ever team HR that went over a fence. Also, as it pertains to my stats, that’s a 7-inning ERA, so looks a little better than it was. And 49 walks in 66 innings? Yuck.

All I can say is Tom has a much better memory than I do. But, I do remember the first year game against Warminster very well. As Tom stated, we lost the game to Warminster 10-1. After everyone else had left for the parking lot, I sat on the bench with Coach Perry and said, “we will NEVER beat this team.” Of course, I was wrong. Through 5 years of travel baseball, and 4 years of American Legion, we NEVER lost to them again. The only players that stuck around that long were Bud, Joe Perry and Dan Ortiz.
As Tom also said, in year 4 we move to Junior Legion, a league for 14 and 15 year olds. We were 100% 14 year olds, so we didn’t fare too well.
But, the first 3 years were pretty amazing. We had a 63-9-1 record, outscoring our opponents 729-315, winning by almost 6 runs a game over the 3 years.
Joe Perry played at Albright. Dan Ortiz went on to play at Ursinus.
Just to complete the circle, Coach Perry and I are coaching t-ball for Joe’s grandson Vincent. We have a way to go to match Tom’s team. After last practice, I said to Coach Perry, “I hope we can get an out in a game.” Coach Perry replied, “I hope we can get an out in the season”. Maybe, if we’re lucky, we can develop another Tom Stortz.
