Riverpalooza Aftermath

After the softball game, Gusto and Bake came over to go to Riverpalooza. We were planning to get there at 3pm which seemed like a reasonable plan. I had 30 tickets to sell and I knew they raised the price at 3 from 15 to 20 dollars which would make me a bit more money. Turns out that hundreds of people wanted to go at 3pm as well and even if you had a ticket, you had to wait in line. So when we got there I got rid of 28 tickets at about 15 dollars each and sold a few to my friends at 10. The ticket selling process proved to be easy as pie and I probably could have sold 100 more if I tried at 5pm. At one point they said that they couldn’t let anymore people in. Fortunately with my connects with my main man Pat, I was able to get the Shee and Kope in which proved my clout at Mad River.

Once inside it was absolute mayhem. Gusto was so adamant about calling the fire marshal and complaining about how much of a safety hazard there was inside that it took a long time to talk him out of it. There were just people everywhere and it got difficult to move. Getting a drink was a process in itself and even knowing Lindsay didn’t help all that much. When we got there secret service was playing and there were just mobs of people in front of the stage. When we had to piss, we just left the scene and went around the corner to some parking lot that proved to save some time. Gusto saw this chick sitting on the bench and asked her if he could buy her lay and she said he had to earn while simultaneously spreading her legs. I left Gusto at that point but I was cracking up. At around 5 people were already wasted and I was happily still with it.

Just a few random encounters to mention. I talked to Bridget who used to work at Mad River and she was real touchy feely when she was talking to me and I even though she’s married I wondered if she was trying to tell me something. Also I found my favorite bartender, who was looking as fine as ever, and gave her a nice tip for selling me the Riverpalooza tickets and she hooked us up with some drinks. I think I was probably my drunkest at around 8 pm or so, right before Mr Greengenes game on. I found some girl who I was making out with on a previous weekend and I don’t think we said one word to each other but were still macking it on the dancefloor. I would rate her about a 6 and nothing really came out of it. At about midnight we had enough and me, Bake and Gusto left to grab some food and go home. Big props to Bake who drank the entire night and stayed there all day which was not necessarily uncharacteristic but not the easiest thing to do, drink for 10 hours straight. Gusto and I then listened to some Bruce and the Beatles and that’s the end of my night.

I would say that this was an enormous success. I didn’t black out, enjoyed the event, and nothing bad happened. Bake had the odds at 3-1 of me sleeping in my own bed and I’m pretty proud to say that I accomplished this simple task. Now I didn’t bring home any ladies but just making it home in one piece and not blacking out was good enough for me. I had a pretty fun time and can’t think of many better ways to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Riverpalooza 2010

Believe it or not, I don’t really have any good stories from the day. The ticket endeavor worked like a charm as we were able to get rid of every ticket for a 10 dollar price. I probably gave back 50 or so during the day but without the bartenders, we wouldn’t have been able to make it work. I think we got to Mad River at about 2:30 and it was already starting to get crowded. By 5 it was completely packed. The bands were pretty good and despite some repeats of songs, everyone was enjoying themselves. To my recollection I had 3 beers before we got there at 2:30, another 6 or so while we there and tack on a shot and probably about 4 mind erasers. I can remember 4 specifically so that tally could easily be 6. By 7 I was in front of the band and decided to find out where everyone went and I was the only person there. At that point I walked back and got some beef lo mein from the Chinese place. When I got back there was Jeff, Mael, and Julie and I think it was around 8 or so. We played some quarters and by 10:30 I wasn’t functioning properly anymore. I’m usually pretty good at quarters and I literally couldn’t make a shot and most of them were going directly into the table and not bouncing anywhere. At that point I made a wise decision and passed out at around 10. If I would have gone out I would have been asking for trouble and at that point, it was the right move. So I don’t have anything wildly entertaining from the day but I still thought it was a good time.

My fantasy teams had a 2-2 week with wins coming in leagues I needed wins in and losses in leagues I could afford them. The turkeys, without my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks still managed 120+ points but lost to Evan to give him his first win. (baring Chad Henne throwing 4 picks and 0 yards.) The Nuts also lost in a lackluster performance but the Terminators dominated and the Mind Erasers also had a big week being led by TO. Plus my eliminator in the Chargers won with ease. I also had one bet this week on the Giants and I am now up 30 bucks on the season moving into week 5.

I’m not going to give a big rundown of shows although I did watch all my normal Sunday TV. I actually wasn’t really impressed with any of them. Dexter seems to be off on a weird tangent with avg story lines developing. Eastbound and Down made a wise decision to bring Stevie back because he really is the best character on the show. Family Guy was one of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen and they should stick to making people laugh rather than political humor. Boardwalk empire was one of those, is anything going to happen episodes and I didn’t really find it all that entertaining. Weeds is tonight and I really enjoyed the last episode and hope that tonight’s is equally good.

Ambler bball tonight to move to 3-0. Other than that everything is pretty normal and with cold weather moving in, the season’s are changing. I know this isn’t the most exciting post but it’s early in the week and I tend to function poorly in the beginning and get better as the days move along.

Door Opening and Tix

When it’s two guys together and there is a door to open, it’s not OK for one of the guys to open the door for the other guy. The proper procedure is for the guy in front to open the door, walk through, and then push the door open after he has walked through it to show courtesy. Unless your a homo, you don’t open doors for regular guy friends.

So tonight seems like another get fucked up night which I’m somewhat regretting because I plan on day drinking tomorrow. Now I don’t have so much of a problem drinking tonight, waking up, and then doing more drinking in the afternoon. I know I’m physically capable of performing that but the difference lies in the functionality of my body when comparing two situations. If I didn’t drink tonight and started to drink at noon tomorrow, I could probably steadily drink for 8+ hours and I’d be able to remember the majority. However, if I get lit tonight, then I’ll wake up at noon still feeling drunk and the first couple beers will immediately regenerate the buzz, thus leaving me with less drinking time and a much higher blackout chance. It’s a catch-22 because staying in on Friday’s is lame but I’m running a risk of getting out of hand on Saturday, we’ll see.

I also want to post that if you are planning on going to Riverpalooza and you read my blog and you don’t have tickets to get in, you can call me and I have a few extra that I’ll happily sell you at a discount compared to paying full price at the door. I find these outside, afternoon events are great fun because everyone, literally everyone, is getting wasted and is in good spirits. My # is 215-694-2438 so you can either text or call me and I should be able to help you out.

Weekend

I bought a case of Abita which turned out to be a pretty good variety pack. So I was drinking that on Friday. I was dominating the wagon in the first couple games but he ended up tying the series due to my drunkenness. We went to the bar and I was macking on some hideous 40 year old. I honestly can’t explain why I do things like that but it was entertaining none the less. I woke up Saturday and we had a softball game at 11:15. We ended up losing 12-11 and had a handful of things go wrong. I botched one in the outfield and forgot to back up the first baseman on one play. The wagon had a better batting avg than me so I have to fill out the stupid census that he ripped up because he thought it was incoming mail instead of outgoing mail. After the game I started drinking and played poker with Gusto for a while. Then we went to Riverpalooza at 5 or so. I was bombed by 7 and went home. Passed out til probably 9 or ten and some random girl came over. I actually met her at Mad River and got her number so while I was passed out Jkash and Gusto were working some text message game which is why she came over. She was fine but nothing ended up happening. She went to the bathroom and I ended up passing out so she left. I feel kind of lousy after a weekend like that but that’s pretty typical.

Same Tiger, Different Hole

Chad made this title so I figured I’d use this sentence to give him credit. As it turns out I won both of my tiger bets I made. He wore a black hat and shot under 70 for the first round. They had a stat on yesterday that said Tiger had never broken 70 in the first round of the majors EVER. Just shows that I was doing my homework before I bet. I really am amazed though how this guy just did that. He has so much media coverage and so much pressure from different areas to perform like that is really remarkable. I would think that his sponsors that dropped him will be really pissed off if he goes on to win this thing. I can’t really see any reason to dislike him other than the whole cheating on the wife thing but if he comes out of this situation a changed man, fine by me. I made a bet with the sheee for 100 dollars that he’ll be with Elin 5 years after their Thanksgiving debacle.

I’ve also encountered 3 ass clowns on the road in the past 2 days that I want to describe. Assclown 1 didn’t want to let me merge into his lane when two lanes were converging to one. I knew it was going to be a hassle the way he was spacing behind the car in front but the lane was ending and there really weren’t any other options. Be a nice guy and let the person in, that simple. Assclown2 was a female. She’s waiting in a lot looking to make a left. There is a huge line of cars coming in the lane she’s trying to get into but none coming the other way. I stop the line of cars effectively letting her in. She waits, and waits, and waits. I’m at a full stop at this point wondering what is going on, so I just assume she doesn’t want to turn and start to accelerate and guess what … she gets the hint and starts to accelerate at the same time so we are accelerating into each other together. We both slam on the brakes and I give a wild “go you stupid bitch” hand signal. Last time I try to be nice. Assclown three was at a light making a left hand turn. The light is green and there is oncoming traffic so he wouldn’t be able to turn. As the light turns yellow he is obligated to move into the center of the intersection and make the left turn when traffic stops for the red light. I could tell he wasn’t going to do it before it happened but I just think people have to understand this simple concept.

Bud Schmidt pointed out to me that my utensil was already created by some other braniac. However I’m sure his name wasn’t as brilliant as mine. Just so we are all on the same page and you understand what goes through my head, I name it the tri-eat. First, 3 different utensils to eat with, the basic behind the name. 2nd, it sounds like treat, and everyone would feel this was a treat to the utensil world. 3rd, it sounds like try it, which is perfect from a marketing stand point. Seriously, I’m a marketing genius.

I’ve been running a lot lately. I put in about 40 miles in the first 4 days of this week and I’ll post my running log sometime next week. I feel asleep at 7pm last night and woke up at 7am today. I did respawn at 2am to take my contacts out and brush my teeth but it was a rare Thursday that I didn’t go out. I feel good today and am looking forward to the weekend. If you are going to Riverpalooza let me know because I would like to attend but no one I know is really going.
