The first time we see the word “Treasurer” as a last name was in France (“Tresor”). The Treasurer’s, apparently, were French Huguenots who migrated to England. Some remained there, others were chased out due to their religious beliefs and headed to America. My great-grandfather came through Ellis Island and ended up in Mount Vernon, New York.
