"I don’t know how many of you have had a job you were doing for the very first time, but I’m guessing here that you don’t do it as well as you will 4 years later."

That is the point. It is pretty much the crux of peoples objection to Trump. He has zero experience in any government role, and seems to be demonstrating that for whatever business acumen he exclaims, that does not translate well. Frankly, the few US Presidents who came from a business background (even with public service after) have routinely been the least effective or impactful Presidents we have had.

If I was floundering at my new accounting job (with little to no accounting experience), would you chastise me (for doing a poor job), the firm (for hiring me) or me (again - for trying to be an accountant)?

Obviously, he should get better at his job after 4 years. But he's the POTUS! There is little to no learning curve. Just as a client in my new found accounting position would not give me the leniency of 4 years to get their returns correct, the country does not owe a President 4 years to "learn" how to do the job while being responsible for doing it. There is far too much at stake.

If I misfiled Stortz company returns just once, I would expect to be fired - from the account and the job. If anything, the job of POTUS should have even more scrutiny, no?
